Hi Folks

I have started growing a plant, not doing anything special, just by the window in the day and a small grow light at night. Please can someone tell me how long it takes to bud? Should I be doing something different? Picture below

It needs to be in darkness after 12 hours or so. Then it will flower. but don’t expect a whole hell of a lot! Looks like it has been kind of starved for light. Pretty spindly! Live and learn! I wonder if it’s even a girl. Hope they were feminized.

Yes its definitely female. I didn't know anything about being in darkness, hence the reason for joining here. Thanks for advice

just a couple suggestions from posts here of grows.
1st: i know you want to do it cheap, everyone does but see it like the bigger the light the bigger the bud, should pick a nice dark area and put the light and plant there with a small fan just to push the air softly around. so many people here could suggest some good LED's if your looking for fairly cheap still.

2nd: i suggest finding, asking or researching a feed/water plan and dont use the cap of the nute bottles to put any old amount in, youll need to know the exact ml for best reaction

3rd: id suggest to transplant her a few days before flowering, the few days giving her to feel out her new pots for the stretch phase.

4th: go get yourself a 24hr timer and a PH reader that has a EC reader with it, like a 2 in 1, these will help you figure out whats wrong during a deficincy or overdose on nutes or risk not knowing and loosing your whole havest. take this from me im fairly new ive done around 10ish i learnt some weird stuff about how ec levels can lock out nutes or using too much of a nute can stop your plant from using all of another nute.

5th: just a good ol tip, a plant will grow so much better with a good root system and even drink more. roots grow best as the soils are becoming dry so try not to overwater and start becoming familar to google and looking up aspects of deficincies.

6th: with your current grow i would get that light asap, she looks to be stretching for the sun, which means not enough light. choose a LST you like and try it out, grow it under the stronger light for a few weeks, repot so the roots have space for the stretch wait a few more days, check the plants over for pest at this point because once you turn her and she flowers you want to keep anything that kills pests off the buds, which in terms can make pests a real problem at this stage. if they look healthy green without deficincies, turn the lights than from 18-6 to 12-12. 2 weeks from them youll see the first white hairs if its a girl

just a heads up it might be feminized or even a clone but if it gets too stressed out or a light is hitting it during flowering time during the plants sleep, it can cause it to stress into a hermie, than your basically done because the pollen grows in the bud areas, a true hermie creates pollen sacks in different spots. the pollen from a stressed hermie when put onto another female is how you create a fem seed :)

things can get very technical with indoor, get yourself some neem oil or whatever you want to use to get the bugs away, just incase they come..

also if this is your first grow, than this is my biggest piece of advice, dont love the plant too much too the point your using nutes 3x a day just because its slightly dry. and remember to flush (PH'd water) your plant for 2 weeks before harvest. or it will taste like fertz xD

hope it helps and i didnt scare ya out of all this. all i want to do is spred the green :P
some people may do stuff differently but this is how ive been doing it. tweeking it slightly each grow, watching it get better and more yeild. im far from perfect though. should see the pics the big bois of the group post here.
