I'll have to look. Pretty sure it's all the same around here. What brand is that?
So I used to run a factory that had a e-coat paint system we used RO and the manufacture of our system said it was safe to drink but yes you have to get the mineral content somewhere - they also said could cause serious shits for some-Whats the difference between ro and bottled drinking water? Both are sold at the store for human consumption and both test under 20-30 ppm. Is the doctor trying to kill me? They serve ro water in the waiting room. LOL I call fake news bs
I give my seedlings ro or rain and they love it because they are in cocoloco which has everything they need. When they get bigger I mix with 400ppm tap water 50-50.So I used to run a factory that had a e-coat paint system we used RO and the manufacture of our system said it was safe to drink but yes you have to get the mineral content somewhere - they also said could cause serious shits for some-
The machine at the store that fills the big bottles claims to be RO water, its sold for drinking and is under 20ppm. @ 35 cent/gal its a good deal. The bottle of niagara I'm drinking right now just tested at 7ppm.
Even cheaper possibly are those Brita filters that @Shaded_One suggested. Common item that can be found at most any big box store.Buying a filter for your drinking water is common :p most people use BRITA's even in first world countries. Unless you enjoy fluoride and chlorine that is.
Yeah RO is often up to 40ppm in places like that and rarely below 20ppm. They don’t usually run RODI that’s usually 0-2ppm with new filtersJust keep in mind that water from a public RO machine is only going to be as pure as the store keeps it clean. If it's dirty, those impurities will transfer into the water. It's cross contamination.
Technically speaking though, both distilled water and RO should be 100% mineral free ... In the real world? Not always ...
True story here ... I was on the road about a year ago repairing some industrial equipment. I asked about the lime and scale in the piping. They said that they use RO water, there should be no minerals in the system. I asked how often are the filters changed? Answer was ... never.Yeah RO is often up to 40ppm in places like that and rarely below 20ppm. They don’t usually run RODI that’s usually 0-2ppm with new filters
I bought one of those & sent it back because of too much waste water & replacement cartridges, Then there's the added work of making the RO water....I found a source for 16 Gal of 0 ppm $6.50 + new caps on the bottles if I need for another $1....If your in Canada you cant really beat this.

Id use yellow stickies and BTI bit im not really a bug guyI bought some distilled just to mix 50/50 with tap until they grow a bit and get stronger. Very slow growth right now.
So what do you guys do if you find a fungus gnat in the tent?
I’m not really a bug guy either…they must’ve caught wind that a newbie had some plants goin in a tent and decided I was an easy target lolId use yellow stickies and BTI bit im not really a bug guy
Yeah I figured it was probably from the soil. A buddy of mine had some from his OF or HF so maybe it’s the store we’re buying it from? Hopefully it won’t turn into a swarm of them, but I sorta expect it to. Grabbing yellow stickys tomorrow to catch the little bastards. Got nothing against little bugs as long as they stay where they belong… outside and off my plants haha. The most common source of fungus gnats in an indoor grow is from the soil. The bugs were present in the soil when you bought it. Speaking only for myself, I've never had the issue with either Fox Farm Happy Frog or Ocean Forrest. I've also never had issues with Roots Organic "Lush" soil. I have had this issue with brands like Miracle Grow. Others may have had different experiences.
Edit: Not a bug guy either but I don't like anything that flies out of the soil.
You are 10000% right dude when I bought my first bag of kilo I didn’t realize it was infested with mites I got it from Canadian tire and never again they have a gardening section outside which sucks because when it rains well you know what comes bugs and all sorts of pest smh I only buy from hydro stores where everything is kept indoors and I still inspect my bag before anythingThe most common source of fungus gnats in an indoor grow is from the soil.
