I just took pictures in my space and am just not happy with the “lights on” look. The light is great for growing ganja just not great lighting for pics lol! Guess I need to invest in one of those selfie lights or whatever hahaha!

What light (sorry if I missed that) are you using for pics?
for that picture i think i used a couple headband led lights and maybe a large flashlight in addition to the ceiling light. i got a shitload of pics but have been trying to choose only the best ones here so i've incorporated a number of different lighting settings so far and am narrowing it down to what works the best.

i find placement of the light is as important as the light itself.

probably the best pic showing the lavender coloring in the leaves of the oregon grape.

Hey those are some nice looking colas! The ammount of pistils already shows youre gonna have great buds specially with the OG and number 2. Number 2 seems to be way behind in maturity with all the pistils being white but she sure has a lot! Thats gonna be a big fat bud.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve always loved photography but never got any deeper than just liking to take pics. Light is something I will definitely play around with! Thanks again! ✌🏻

depending on the lighting and placement of the plants the developement perspective is somewhat different.

unfortunately the oregon grape is the only plant that i would consider truly nice. #2 was the next best but now it appears that it is starting to foxtail where #1 & 3 still have a more rounded appearance. i've got to figure #3 will be sad as to quantity and am trying to at least produce the best quality of the buds at this point given that it's the only thing i can do at this point. #2 was showing much promise a week or so ago but the plant is somewhat unhealthy as well but it is showing far better trichome developement than #s 1 & 3. #1 might be my best chance for decent girth cola's but i'll have to wait until it has developed further.

i'm finding there is much that can be achieved through effective lighting. one thing i found curious was that some of the pictures i took were without the flash and they came out real nice with just the appropriate ambient and strategically placed lights alone. most of the pictures i have taken are using the flash though.

I’ll play around with the flash with my phone today! (Water day lol) the girls are getting to the point im liking to look at the trichomes with the loupe (for visual enjoyments only!!! Not checking for harvest ) and I figured out last grow I can use the loupe and my phone combined, as long as Ihavent had too much coffee before hand!🤣 and even then its near impossible to to grab even a decent pic HAHA! ✌️

visual comparison of 2 different lighting setups

of note - the lower light set was taken 1 day earlier

the low light pic makes the plants look far better than they actually appear due to the ability to see the pistils and the shadows making the buds look bigger

the higher light setting makes the buds look smaller than they are by making it hard to see the pistils and there are no shadows.

in reality the true scope of the plants is somewhere in between in my opinion.

🤣 i've found one of the biggest problems i have is trying to hold my phone still enough to not get blurry images. i drink so much coffee i may as well just have an intravenous feed so i'm screwed there. 😣.... i've been contemplating constructing something that would support the phone from what the stuff i have lying around but i'm thinking if i could properly place a box or anything i can prop up my arms to keep my hand steadier while taking the picture.

the latest round of pics i got really good results. what i did was used the grow space light. in order to do this i had to move a lot of stuff around so i could actuallly climb up into the grow space. i had to sit cross legged in order to actually fit in it. this enabled me to prop my arms up on my legs thereby allowing me to forego most potential movement.

using the grow light provided an immense amount of illumination as well, allowing me to get some great detail.

best latest pics for #1 showing differences in pistil color with 2 different lighting applications.

the first shows very bushy white hairs.

the second still has bushy hair developement but gives a better look at the red in the pistils.

The first picture with the white pistils is with no flash. The second one with the redder hairs is using the flash.

this is actually plant #1 not #2
these two pictures were taken in the same picture session.

i was personally surprised at how different the pistils looked between the 2 pictures when i was looking over the pictures.

Wow that oregon grape cola looks fantastic! Fully developed, looks like its tight aswell and shiny!
About the n2 it looks good too but its not fully mature, something happened to her? Too many white pistils and I dont see any orange pistil curled into the bud, buds also look like they could have been fattening longer and taking a better more rounded shape.
