Yeah they smell a bit when drying.
I used a old cupboard & put a small tent inside.
You might just get away with using the cupboard, but mine was pretty airy.
I totally understand not wanting your house to stink of it. You never know is gonna pop round.

For emergency I use what’s in the photo it’s expensive however one small squirt and the whole place smells of lemon even if I’m smoking
Thank you, I will have to look into that, and it's not too expensive if it works.

here in us we has ozium. smells like someone turned you

upside-down and squeezed a fresh lemon into your nose.
Ha ha, yeah believe it or not, I had gotten some Ozium a while back when I had a house mate because he smoked cigarettes and I am allergic to the smoke smell. Not sure if I can still get it over here or not. I'll have a look.

I was thinking ok I was avoiding transplanting more and was getting stoned 🤣 & was thinking about your original post

Latter down the line when they are ready you will want to inspect the trichs on the flowers.
( the buds )

You can’t see the colour by eye you’ll need a jewellers Loop or something similar nowadays with tech stuff you can get lots of different applications and various ways of doing it.

This is what I eventually brought
You can use it freehand & it comes up on your phone

The bottom pic are two of the different type jewellersloops that I’ve used. I can’t find my old ones I need to clean my growing equipment out however, my back’s not enjoying it so it’s kind of why I’m avoiding Transplaining which I better get back to anyway best of luck and have fun it’s a seriously different experience when you start off at first it’s so exciting.

You made me laugh when you said you were avoiding transplanting and thinking about getting stoned instead. You're all going to think me crazy, but it's been some months since I last smoked, mostly because I moved and lost touch with the guy who used to hook me up. And then when I found the bird seed plant outside, that ignited my ideas about growing. So I don't have anything to smoke until my plants are ready. I'm not sure if that's good or bad. I will say that while I don't have anything to smoke, I'm not going to hurry my grow along. I'm willing to wait because I want it to come out right, or as right as I can get it.

In regards to the loupes, what is the one you bought? It doesn't look like anything I've seen before? Can you give me the name of it, so I can look it up and read the specs on it? Thanks. 🙂

this is the same as mine ( there generic )
I dunno how to link it
Just type either handheld microscope or microscope for cannabis in Amazon

Depending on your phone they are around
£17 to £40

I brought a new stand as the stands that come with them are naff.

Thank you. I didn't know there were such things out there. I have a jeweler's loupe, 40x, but you have to get your eyes right up to it to see, and then I end up smooshing the buds. I'd like to be able to see things without getting so close. Am I correct that these can be handheld? You don't have to pull a bud off to look at it, right? I'm going to have a look in a few minutes, but thought I'd ask while I'm here. I do think this will be helpful though because like I said, that loupe is difficult to use, only because you have to get so close to see anything.

You can use it freehand depending

It comes up on your phone so unless you take a photo with it & examine that you’ll need to learn how to hold the scope in one hand & the phone in the other

It’s very handy to have

Yeah the loupes get covered in oils when your close up & can be fiddly

I got mine today and the problem I'm having is keeping my hand still while holding the microscope. I have a table near to one of my plants, so I laid the phone there, so I could see what was on the screen ... but every single time I took a photo, they were blurred because I can't keep my hand completely still. I don't have any physical issues, it's just that I cannot keep my hands still, even when taking regular photos with my phone. But all in all, I think my phone takes better photos, they are clearer. Now, if I pinch on my photo to zoom in, I can see the trichomes. I'm not sure how to pinch and then publish to here though (I'm not great with technology, even simple things, ha ha).
But just to show you what I mean, I'm posting 2 photos. One was with the microscope and the other was with my phone. Maybe I'm not using it right, I don't know. But if I can't get anything as good as my phone, I will send it back. It's no use to me if I can't get clear pictures from it.

you could perhaps cut off a small nug (near the top), which you could then put it on a table under the stand. added bonus is you'd have a little early sample to test. just an idea... farm? 🤔

Yeah, I did think about that .... not sure I can bring myself to do it though, ha ha. 😁

Buy (or make) an articulating arm with clamps on both sides.
Clamp it to something stationary or heavy and adjust it over your bud so you don't have to try to hold the microscope steady.

that's why they keep you around here, you're worth your weight in [Columbian] gold!

very good idea. 🤔 ✌️
I appreciate the compliment but it would be wrong of me to take the credit.....
When I purchased my microscope, I made a thread asking for tips and @ChuckFinnl3y suggested an articulating arm!
It was a great idea, much easier then by hand!
I use tents so I clip the arm right to the poles.

I hope you still keep me around, even thought it wasn't my idea 🥺

Yes, but even though it wasn't your initial idea, if you hadn't posted it here, for me to see, I would never have thought of it on my own. So, thank you for that recommendation, I'm going to look into that. 🙂

I got the cap off .... but it's my hand moving just as I'm pushing the button to capture the picture that seems to be the issue. However, I've just today bought a macro lens that fits over my smart phone camera. This looks promising and was quite a lot cheaper than the microscope. I'm going to try it out and post some photos to see how good it works.

Actually, I'm going to take both of them out and do a comparison between the microscope and this macro lens, see which works best.
