Haven’t looked into one of these in a few years. What’s the average price for a reasonable setup these days? A “best bang for the buck” type of rig that will be used by me to make stuff like noted here as well as make parts for my sons model hobby.

I’m more utilitarian & DIY while he’s creative.

It sounds like those UV lights are really making a difference. I can't wait to see your live resin setup!! live is so tasty!!!!!

man that street race sounds like a blast!! i didn't know who to take for that one... i think i picked la-gay-nooooo!!! for that race... that what sucks about the pool, it makes you pick the idiots too!!!! hahaha

i wanted to take jimmie johnson so bad for the 500 but i just couldn't what if he doesn't make it in.. i wouldn't want to start out last because of that. its so hard man. i just take who i think is the best 18 drivers and just fill em each in twice. and this year there were enough that i didn't even have to pick bubba wallace!!!!!!! i took larson for michigan and sonoma. I saw briscoe just signed a contract extension!!!

hope ya get to rest your hands and back from the harvest time!!!!

Man IDK if the UV really helped much at all. My UV card barely turned a few shades blue at the canopy but if held close to the lamps they go full purple. I think I can lower them the next grow and kinda take the training wheels off.
I think the major players for all the resin started with solid genetics, the LED known to bring out the oils, quality microherds, and the two feedings of brewed Terp Tea. UV played a role but maybe just trace effects.

I've got my boy Gragson winning Chicago. Dude is a madman on road courses and everybody will be equal in experience on that course so yeah I've got him throwing up and shotgunning a beer at the finish line hahaha!
I've got Jimmie winning his home track in Cali even though I have no idea if he'll race in that one. Also picked him in Phoenix but probably should've gone with Harvick. And after reading my sheet for some reason I think Bowman will have himself a helluva season! Not sure how I did that.
I used '22 results to pick my '23 winners picking guys who finished top 12 who also raced well all season. We'll see how that strategy goes.
Aside from my pool sheet I have Blaney, Elliott, and Reddick having really great seasons this year and will predict drivers with a win will miss the playoffs this year. Nobody better slow play the season for points like Truex did last year. You better win, win again, and dominate other races or be left out. And shit like penalties and loose wheel crap will have to be cleaned up. Those can kill a season now with a field this talented and so many good race teams.

I liked seeing Briscoe get resigned. I'm wondering if in '24 will the #14 car be the flagship of SHR and they get a rookie for the #4 car or try to get a high end guy with lots of wins to pilot the #4? This is Briskys chance to step up and be the guy. He's got it in him now he just needs to drive that fucker like he stole it, like he did at Bristol dirt, COTA, Phoenix and the playoff races. Needs to clean up those stretches of weeks where he disappears and start thinking of himself and driving like he's a top ten guy every week.
#14 has some great history and he can add to it rather than baby sitting it. I think the new contract will give him confidence to do that and finally make 14 all his own.

I've got all my harvest pics ready to go so I'll drop them all soon!

I only paid $90 for my printer but it's small and entry level quality. Very user friendly and I like it to understand 3D printing but soon I'll be going bigger like Stoney, Moe, and others. A really good printer can be had for $250-$350. Wait for sales though to get better for less. Black Friday, Prime Day, Flash Sales, etc will all bring great deals.
2KG spools of filament range from $15-$40 depending and can make a lot of things with that much filament. 2KG would probably make 100 vertical germinator kits or more. I'll spend more on filament than I will my for printers when it's all said and done 🤪

I got mine out two harvests ago because I wasn't sure I had enough room in my regular drying chamber. The net things were all musty smelling so I just put them back lol.

This one was crammed in a small closet in my garage. Musta been there almost 10 years. I've had a few drying racks and I don't think I ever used this one before because I remember cutting off some trays and they were not nearly as big as this one. The case was pretty dusty but inside the trays were like new so I proceeded.
I've never liked using net trays but figured they'd be fine for leaf. I put down parchment paper and laid the leaf down in a single layer.
Woulda used a table but there's so much trim I didn't have enough room on my table.
Looks like it's worked well and all the leaf is dry already so I'll bag into a grove today and get that rack out of my room and out of my way.
Nice chop!! 🔥

Thanks Buddy!

So here's my DIY freeze dry and beginning of my attempt to make live rosin.
In the end, if I get 5 grams I'll be very happy and if this works even happier.
I love live extracts but there's no way I'm gonna spend big $$$ on a freeze drier so when I get a good harvest with plenty to use for experiments, freeze drying and live resin is always at the top of the list of experimentation.

I found this idea online and liked it mostly because I could use better equipment than the tutorial which used a marinating dish and hand pump for wine to make freeze dried strawberries.
I'm using a BHO purge chamber and powered vacuum pump I used for purging BHO and installing the mini split AC system for my home. Cue the Tim Allen "More power" grunts 🏋️‍♂️

My gear...
3 gallon purge chamber made of aluminum with sealing lid that has a ball valve connector T and pressure gauge.
Stainless steel steam pot strainer.
2.5 CFM vacuum pump.
About 1lb of silica beads. I got the blue kind that turn white when filled with water and they can be dried out for reuse.
Medium size deep freezer.

IMG 4147

To start I cut down what I wanted to use off the plants and froze it right away for a few days

IMG 4150

First I cleaned all my gear and to begin the freeze dry I added the silica to the purge chamber. I think the ratio is around double the weight of bead to material added. I didn't weigh it or anything and just figured the more the better.

IMG 4148

Next in goes the strainer and this is just used so the material does not have contact with the silica beads

IMG 4149

And then the weed

IMG 4151

And now comes the purge. I did this with video so Y'all can see the vacuum happen and it even began to pull some vapor from the chamber so I'm thinking this might actually work!

Ok so now the chamber is under a vacuum and I put it back in the deep freezer where it'll sit for a few days then I'll check it's progress.
But basically the way this should work is that under the vacuum, the water in the material will turn to vapor and instead of using the pump to keep pulling, hopefully the silica absorbs that vapor and leaves me with some freeze dried cannabis. We'll soon find out!

IMG 4153

And since I'm feeling really good about this grow, harvest, and future I decided to treat myself to some new toys...

Another Terp Pen and I also ordered the mystery box from Boundless which came with another XL pen plus a bunch of tips! Pretty good deal for only $59!

IMG 4144

And a little fancy upgrade to my desktop rolling station courtesy of BlueBus

man o man the bud porn!!!!!! i try to focus on all the cool things going on but my eyes keep going back to bud porn!!!

i use those silica beads in my gun cabinet, they work great for keeping the moisture out of there so i hope they do the same for you!!

how long ya gonna leave it there? a week or more?

that sure is a slick ass rolling tray!!! they don't really do it justice in their video though, a half rolled doob and they cut the paper off?!?!?! around here that's like putting beans in your chili... ya just don't do it!!!!! hahahaha (I'm having left over chili tonight.... with beans!!!!!!) 🤣🤣🤣

i like the flashlight though, looks like a faucet!!!

man i can't wait to see your freeze dried bud!!! you gonna squish it then?

ok, back to the porn....

Your DIY freeze dry setup is blowing my mind. That is freakin amazing dude. I can't wait to see how that turns out.

Thanks man! I sure hope it works...That'll be a $2800 hack DIYing a freeze dryer!

I'm gonna check the chamber every day to look at the gauge then open it every three days to see what I have in there. Hopefully it really does come out dry and I doubt it'll take very long.
Yep once it's dried I'm squishing it. I'm not into extracting trichs since I like the full body flavor of flower rosin over sifted trcihs so I'll load it into bags and squish it. I should be able to load 4-5 bags and if successful should pull 5 grams of live resin. Or at least that's the goal. If it works I'll commit a lot more of my next haul to doing live rosin this way.

The tray and gadgets are kinda funny. I got a coupon code from Smoke Cartel to buy it for $40 off and kinda wavered on it for a few days then said why not. The craftsmanship is really nice but I can tell no stoner designed it. Or at least no left handed stoner designed it. Maybe a righty who gets high off delta 8 came up with the design IDK.
Like who needs a phone mount on their rolling tray? Yeah that fucker does a good job holding my papers though haha! And at first it didn't come with the light and pick so I emailed SC about that and they made it right. I really do like the light and jars though, the cone loader is pretty cool, and the bamboo is really nice. I know I'll grime it up in no time though with all this sticky shit!
Yeah that video is LOL funny and fake. I just know if they showed his face it would be this dude

When I stuff a cone with this thing I know damn well there won't be enough paper to twist up like that!

i wonder if squishing it frozen and dry will release a different set of terps and have a totally unique flavor profile compared to the cured bud... i have a feeling you'll be tasting this stuff before the buds are dry!!! hehe ( i know i would)

ya know i didn't even realize that was a phone holder, i just assumed it was for papers!! haha

And try to grow some stinky weeds!
Trying some new stuff and figured I should probably write things down and take some pics or I might forget. The whole short term memory thing ya know.🥴

These seeds are from a feminized 6 pack of Purple Crash (Sundae Driver x Purple Punch) by Greenpoint.
Bought the pack sometime last year, kept them in the fridge, and popped them this week.
Been using vertical germination (paper towels in DVD case) for maybe 10 years or so? Been a long time but now with a 3-D printer I made something specifically designed for popping sprouts. And yeah I get it. Mother Nature been popping beans for eons. A little dirt to cover 'em, some sun and water and there ya go. But I'm a stoner and we tend to over think and over engineer whenever possible so popping beans is no exception. And who knows. We might make a little magic in the process!😋

So this is my sprouting kit prototype dissembled and stuff needed to pop the beans. The next kit I make will be done with food grade plastic and have a little reservoir/carrying case

View attachment 1294950

beans in the channels

View attachment 1294949

Assembled with 3 seeds on one side of the divider and 3 on the other. I'm only doing six but this thing could pop 12 seeds at the same time

View attachment 1294942

Once some heads showed I took a looksy at how it's working. Nice and straight with no cross over or pig tails

View attachment 1294941

Let 'em go for another day and things start to work a little too well. Time to get 'em planted

View attachment 1294945

Kinda like handling a bare root clone but much more fragile

View attachment 1294946

I water my soil very well before planting then bore a hole with the handle of my garden claw. Insert the sprout holding it's head above the soil line then collapse the hole around the tap root and water it in

View attachment 1294951

View attachment 1294952

Light is at 10% output

View attachment 1294947

Room conditions are solid

View attachment 1294948

And away we go! Seems like everything is in order for a solid start so now it's just about being patient and watching. They'll probably spend the next 10 days or so establishing themselves with roots and baby leaves then start to take off at quick pace.

Nothing too elaborate as far as soil and nutes goes. They're in Roots 707 and 1 gallon airpots to start and later will be upcanned to 7 gallon pots filled with Roots Lush.
Nutes are Neptune's Harvest Liquid Fish and Seaweed, Mycos, Compost Tea, and Terp Tea.
My water is kinda special though. Deionized RO with UV purifying circulation in a 55 gallon barrel. Totally stripped down and as pure as it gets. No pH adjustments required.
Lights are CLW LED.

✌️ More fun coming soon......
That germinate is awesome, you should patent and sell. Cheap to build, and everybody would want one. I know I do.

Funny how things came full circle with that 42 hahaha! I have his JRM shirt of him climbing a fence after 3 wins and on the back it has a throwing up smiley emoji. Also have a #9 sticker on my truck.🤮
He and Burton have a salty history so we may see some young gun fights this year! And Gibbs hahaha!! I'm banking on Hamlin getting dibs on that chin even if Gibbs did drive for him last year. Well only if Gibbs takes his helmet off that is🙄

Here's some looks in on some stuff....

drying tent

IMG 4164

IMG 4163

IMG 4162

Tester squish on select frosty purple leaf trim produced extremely waxy purple rosin. Gonna cure this trim for a week or so in a Grove and start squishing it

IMG 4166

Freeze dry project....After 24 hours I popped it open and nothing had really changed. It lost a bit of vacuum pressure but nothing other than that. So I purged it again and then purged it again 3 more times the next day and 3 more again yesterday. Today I'm seeing things start to change and there's a peppering of white in the blue silica.
Today I also started to purge it in the freezer for about an hour at a time and will do a few more times each day here after. I would purge it 24/7 but I don't wanna kill my vac pump doing this.
I'm kinda thinking it will finish as early as a week but maybe up to 10-15 days. I am wondering if I've overloaded it so I imagine just a few buds would go quicker but I have it kinda full yet placed in a single layer.
One thing for sure, what's in the purge chamber is ridiculously danky compared to it's sister container of frozen bud waiting to be freeze dried. The second container of frozen weed is pretty much the same as the day it was picked in regards to looks, color, and aroma and it's defintely still fresh and wet.
Here Y'all can kinda see how the attempt at freeze drying weed is looking different than the still fresh and frozen. It looks to me like the freeze dry stuff is actually turning dry and it's starting to feel like it's drying

IMG 4168

And here's how I have the purge chamber going with an active purge tucked down deep in the freezer amongst the frozen chicken, steaks, and chops🥶

IMG 4169

And a look into the next grow...I ordered these from Greenpoint today and got them cheap in a reverse auction..$60 for both!

Screaming Cookies
Flowering Purple Crunch Strain by Greenpoint Seeds 600x805

I have six other fem seeds and will mix n match 6 plants of these two cuts + Scout Snacks, Banana Fruit Cake, and Topanga Cookies

And I ordered these from the Chili Pepper Institute at New Mexico State University. So my next grow will include ganja and peppers with the peppers going outside for Spring & Summer🥵

gibbs ain't takin his helmet off,,, no way, he's too scared!!!!

.

the stuff in the dryer definitely looks different... I think you're on to something!!

it sucks you lose vacuum though. when mine did that i would moisten the seal a tiny bit, a little water, iced tea, spit, whenever i had on hand at the time...
my chamber is different though. i have their clear rectangle glass one.

but man i am a sucker for anything with dos si do in it!!! and what a killer deal!!!

i can't wait for gardening this year. I'm revamping the entire poly tunnel and changing the way i grow... i learned last year that if i use containers i can beat the horned caterpillars so this year i'm wiping out all the grow beds and dividers inside and laying heavy weed block on the floor and putting everything in containers. I'll probably leave one corner bare just for my strawberries and that big ass asparagus plant.

Little update to post...Seedlings are truckin' along.
Light is at 15% output.
Watered once so far and added Mycos+ to the water. Seemed to give them a little charge.
Have a couple that decided to lay over getting a little stretchy and top heavy so once again the 3-D printer solved it!
I made up these nifty little support stakes with a U shaped hook at the top to support seedlings when I water so they don't fall over.

Before the supports

View attachment 1296989

And after the supports

View attachment 1296990

View attachment 1296992

I went ahead and printed out a support stake for all 6 just in case.
And here's the Mycos+ stuff I'm using for this grow. I usually use Great White but this stuff was $10 less and seems to be the same thing with how it gives the youngins a little kick in the butt the day after applying

New Mexico doesn't get a lot of love but really it might be one of my favorites states. From Roswell to Ruidoso to Las Cruces I've had many enjoyable days and nights out there. Stargazing it next level out in the desert and makes me feel like I'm in outer space.

Yep I'm sold on the Mycos+! I've been religiously using Great White for years but shied away this grow due to pricing. Mycos+ was much less expensive with the same performance so I'll be using it from now on.

Man this year I putting as much focus in my peppers and veggies as I do weed. I got a pepper roaster for my Santa Maria and also want to pickle, make hot sauce, and make dry rubs. Containers are my jam too so it's gonna be an Earthbox garden.

Yeah I think maybe a little frost developed the first day and sprung a tiny little leak on the seal so it lost about 20% of the vacuum pressure. Since then I clean the rim again and it's been holding steady since.
I think this is day 4 or 5 and I'm starting to see significant change and results. It's really working!!!!

This is about the max pull I csan get it on it now and it stays put although I do go out there and turn the pump on for an hour or so 4x a day

IMG 4174

And down in the silica there's a lot more than just a peppering now. Lots of color change going from light blue to clear tells me the beads are taking in the moisture

IMG 4177

And the weed is getting that freeze dried look to it and some of the buds are kinda crispy dry. Usually frozen bud is kinda mushy and not really brittle but this is getting brittle and breaks up ez. Confidence is very high brother! I'm feeling like I've hacked the DIY freeze dryer with success!

And down in the silica there's a lot more than just a peppering now. Lots of color change going from light blue to clear tells me the beads are taking in the moisture

It was a great place to grow up. I spent all my time in the jemez mountains. Now in building my house in the Zuni mountains. The most magical place I've ever been. You can see all the stars at night......

oh man, dry rubs, sauces,,, mmmmmm.... just last summer i started pickling for the first time. I can't wait to try again, i got a late start and had no idea what i was doing. i have some good spices to work with now so i can't wait for round two!!! i wish i could get more crunch too, i need to work on that.

you got my mouth watering now!!!!!! man i love a good home blended dry rub!!!!!

and yeah i'll be earthbox heavy as well... and i might try and work on an aquaponics system i've been planning for a few years. I have all the pieces gathered and the only thing that was standing in my way was the grow beds... they'll be gone and nothing will be holding me back except for running some power to the polytunnel. i sure as hell have enough fish!!! haha

Oh man, hardly any people and the ones that are there are fucking awesome. It's like we won the awesome life lottery. Except the working for a living part but somebody's gotta pay for government spending. It took me 3 months to frame and first roof deck. 4 days at my real job, then drive 2.5 hrs Friday night. Wake up Saturday and bust ass til Monday night then drive back to Albuquerque and start all over again. Had to take a break. Just got my roof deck inspection. Going back up this weekend.
