Hey, I just got some seeds in and have a couple questions. I’m probably jumping the gun but anxious to get started. My grow room currently stays mid 70’s during lights on “18/6” but during lights off at night dips occasionally to mid 50’s. But weather is starting to get warmer. Is that too cold to start new seedlings? As I said just anxious to get growing. Or should I wait a few weeks until temps get warmer. I’m in Ohio so weather now can be 50 one day and 70 the next with lows down in mid 30’s to mid 50’s. Even though inside it still gets chilly in basement. Also if I start autos and plant seeds directly in final container should I keep lights off until they sprout and then start lights? Thanks in advance. I have 2 growing now for the past 2 months and they haven’t got more than 4” tall and starting to flower. Not sure if bad seeds or due to temperature fluctuations. Want to just trash them and start new.

I grow in very similar temperatures year-round, seedlings should be fine with mid 50 nights. With that being said if your stunted plants are within this range as well, I would look towards other variables than temp. If those two are autos, well... we know how autos can be, very unpredictable little ladies. 👊

That’s almost 2 months. Only keep it because waiting to start others. But pretty sad!

If your light is the source of heat, just keep it on for 24 hours, until the weather gets better. You can always drop to 18/6 whenever. 24 hour light is actually advisable for young seedlings to get strong, not a must, but most do it.

Run the lights when it's cold at night, and have lights out during the warmest part of the day.
