Did a defoliation the other nigh, took off all the big fan leaves, forgot to mention that. Took this pic afterwards, huge 9 petal leaves off The Purple One plants!
Thanks and I will be doing a major defoliation this weekend. Pretty much all of the fan leaves except the top two nodes are getting removed. I'm a firm believer in doing a major defoliation on the last day of Veg and Day 21 of Flower.Plants are looking pretty! Do you plan to defoliate or you gonna leave them like that?
Yea ! that's what I do - heavy defoliation in week 4 of veg and week 4 in flower. many defoliate one week before flip (more light) To be honest fan leaves, ect are removed a few at a time even after a heavy defoliation. One can remove just fan leaves in veg to get a "natural"SCOG - removing fan that block light to branches -the plant looks really bad BUT grows out of it !Thanks and I will be doing a major defoliation this weekend. The first major defoliation kick starts Flower, sends more energy to the flower sites, gets better light penetration through the canopy, and significantly reduces the chances of getting any powdery mildew.
The Day 21 major defoliation is the last day I defoliate the plants at all. Typically the plants like to go four weeks of a stretch phase in Flower. The Day 21 defoliation seems to stop the stretch phase sooner and has the same benefits as the first major defoliation. I think these major defoliations at specific times in the plants' life cycle allow the flowers to really bulk up. My last two runs were 3-4 lbs/1000 W and I think the major defoliations were a key factor.
Absolutely Gorgeous plants!!!! But I have a question about this. Is the dark thing personal preference or for these seeds? Or is it how you are actually supposed to do it anyway?.. I have always put it under lights for photos and did the same with my autos took about 3 days for the photos and about a day and a half- 2days for the autos. If there are more benefits to the dark start I may try it. lol sorry if that was a super dumb questionUsing the paper towel method for germination. I put the paper towel in two paper plates to help keep them moist and in a cabinet to keep them in the dark.
