Did a defoliation the other nigh, took off all the big fan leaves, forgot to mention that. Took this pic afterwards, huge 9 petal leaves off The Purple One plants!

We're at Day 36 of Veg, plants are doing well. I've transplanted a few plants up to 10 gal bags. One of each, M.A.C., Flintstones, and Colombian Miracle #5. Still feeding them the same nutrient solution as needed.

Advanced Nutrients
Iguana Juice Grow @ 4 mL/L
Ancient Earth @ 2 mL/L
Grandma Enggy's F-1 @ 2 mL/L
Sensizym @ 2 mL/L
Bud Candy @ 2 mL/L

pH @ 6.2

20230416 101125

Took a bunch of new clones yesterday as well.

Day 48 of Veg for The Purple One plants. Keeping these in Veg for another week before flipping the lights to 12/12. The cloning process right now is not going as well as I would like. Try something a bit different this time around and see if we can get back to producing nice healthy clones.

Fed them the microbe cocktail this morning
Azos @ 1 tbsp/2.5 gal
Mikrobs @ 1 tsp/gal
pH @ 6.3, 4000 mL to each of the 10 gal plants and 2000 mL to each of the 3 gal plants

I've transplanted the two female The Purple One plants into 10 gal bags. I'm leaving the males in 3 gal bags. I'l Flower them for 2-3 weeks and that should be enough time to see which is best before they get too mature. The plan is to flip the lights to 12/12 next weekend, fingers crossed.

I moved the Colombian Miracle plant upstairs. I decided I am going to try my first breeding project and create the F² generation. Pretty excited to see how that turns out! I'l start another grow journal for that when I'm ready.

Day 56 of Veg, the plants are looking healthy. I think I'm gonna have to wait another week until I flip these lights to 12/12

Day 62 of Veg for The Purple One plants, planning on doing a major defoliation later on today and give them twelve hours of darkness tonight, Day 1 of Flower will be tomorrow. Gave them the microbe cocktail this morning.

Azos @ 1 tbsp/2.5 gal
Mikrobs @ 1 tsp/gal
pH @ 6.0 before adding anything, 6.5 after adding both the Azos and Mikrobs.

Gave the 3 gal plants 2000 mL and the 10 gal plants got 4000 mL.

I did do a major defoliation this past Saturday and flipped the lights to 12/12 for Sunday being Day 1 of Flower. Adjusted the lights, PPFD around 600-700, I'l be slowly increasing the light intensity.

The bottom pic in the last post is the end of week 1 of Flower for my Colombian Miracle breeding project, didn't mean to put that pic in there. The male plant is in rough shape, but it's definitely got some good new growth since flipping the lights to 12/12. I know it's not ideal, but it should get me a lot of F² seeds to phenohunt and that's the goal.

We're at the end of Week 1 of Flower and the plants are looking excellent! I culled the three male The Purple One plants earlier in the week. I do have a clone of what looked like the best structure of the three. I don't think I'l breed with that at any point in the future, but I'l keep it alive as an option at this point.

Gave them the microbe cocktail yesterday morning. They're drinking 5000 mL's of solution per watering which is every three days at this point. I started the Flower nutes earlier in the week.

Week 1 Flower Nutes
Advanced Nutrients
Iguana Juice Bloom @ 4 mL/L
Ancient Earth @ 2 mL/L
Grandma Enggy's F-1 @ 2 mL/L
Organic Bud Candy @ 2 mL/L
Sensizym @ 2 mL/L
Big Mike's OG Tea @ 2 mL/L
Terpinator @ 2.5 mL/L

Microbe Cocktail
Azos @ 1 tbsp/2 gal
Mikrobs @ 2 tsp/2 gal
WOW 5-2 wonder blend @ 0.5 tsp/2 gal

I recently discovered the WOW 5-2 wonder blend product and it seems really good to me and inexpensive cost per app. It's a combo of Humic Acid/Fulvic Acid/Seaweed Extract with an analysis of 0-0-15. I'm thinking this will be an excellent product to incorporate into the nutrient regimen once a week along with the other beneficial microbes.

Another trellis will be going on the MAC, Flintstones, and MAC Stomper plants at some point this week or next week to make sure nothing gets too tall and create the more even canopy.

Haven't been great about updating this journal. We're into week 3 of Flower at this point. Last week I started adding in Bid Bud and this week I added in Nirvana to the nutrient solution. They're getting 6000 mL when they get fed now as well.

Plants are looking pretty! Do you plan to defoliate or you gonna leave them like that?

Thanks and I will be doing a major defoliation this weekend. Pretty much all of the fan leaves except the top two nodes are getting removed. I'm a firm believer in doing a major defoliation on the last day of Veg and Day 21 of Flower.

The first major defoliation kick starts Flower, sends more energy to the flower sites, gets better light penetration through the canopy, and significantly reduces the chances of getting any powdery mildew.

The Day 21 major defoliation is the last day I defoliate the plants at all. Typically the plants like to go four weeks of a stretch phase in Flower. The Day 21 defoliation seems to stop the stretch phase sooner and has the same benefits as the first major defoliation. I think these major defoliations at specific times in the plants' life cycle allow the flowers to really bulk up. My last two runs were 3-4 lbs/1000 W and I think the major defoliations were a key factor.

Yea ! that's what I do - heavy defoliation in week 4 of veg and week 4 in flower. many defoliate one week before flip (more light) To be honest fan leaves, ect are removed a few at a time even after a heavy defoliation. One can remove just fan leaves in veg to get a "natural"SCOG - removing fan that block light to branches -the plant looks really bad BUT grows out of it !

Day 30 of Flower, fed the plants today. Added an additional HLG 350R over the MAC, Flintstones, and MAC Stomper plants. They're getting closer to 900-1200 PPFD across the canopy now. Also set up two FIG Far Red strip lights over those plants and two over The Purple One plants. Gonna see if they do anything. There's some scientific studies out there that say they should help.

Using the paper towel method for germination. I put the paper towel in two paper plates to help keep them moist and in a cabinet to keep them in the dark.
Absolutely Gorgeous plants!!!!😍 But I have a question about this. Is the dark thing personal preference or for these seeds? Or is it how you are actually supposed to do it anyway?.. I have always put it under lights for photos and did the same with my autos took about 3 days for the photos and about a day and a half- 2days for the autos. If there are more benefits to the dark start I may try it. lol sorry if that was a super dumb question😁

Thank you! For germination all that is needed is moisture. Keeping them in the dark just helps prevent them from drying out. As long as they stay moist they should germinate.
