Same cup 16 hrs later, @One drop. :-)

The clones of AB108M and AB105M have rooted and been placed in solo cups. They will spend 12 hrs (6 am to 6 pm) outdoors and 12 (6 pm to 6 am) in a dark indoor location (far away from my ladies doing 12/12 in my bedroom closet). I hope to collect some pollen from each. They are outside now in a shaded location to start hardening off.

Actually, can anyone fell me if a plant needs to be hardened off again if it started outdoors but came in for propagation and then needs to go back out? I’m erring on the side of they do.

You northerners are crazy to fuckin cold in vt! Pretty but to much white powdery mildew falls from the sky for 1/2 the year. Lol

I tried the south for a couple of decades. The tradeoff is simple — summers and fall are better in the north, winters and spring are better in the south. I'm finding I like a nice summer. I also like being in a legal state, but that sun in the south, when you grow outdoors, can't be beat. It's like a death ray to most living things, but cannabis eats it up.

We have three and he is our youngest. The one who tries to eat the plants is the oldest. And the two of them play and groom together aggressively. The third stays out of trouble except she digs through the recycling and pulls out the washed cat food cans to see if she can get any smidgeon of food out of them. They are certainly entertaining. The devolution of grooming to wrestling is so predictable.

Lots of retying today to try and get more even exposure and a more even canopy. All of the clones have rooted. I finally feel like I have a decent handle on cloning. The Thai red chili plant seedlings are doing well. And these are the different variations of pansies currently on my balcony. The few flowers I have have truly been labors of love.

Imagine weed flowering like the Pansies/Violets, you just can't beat the range of colours on one plant, every/any colour bar green it seems can be grown.

Outside grow, two autoflowers sre pretty much on autopilot. The Zkittlez is stacking particularly nicely. And then, there are multiple rooted clones of AB105M and AB108M. Two are on a 12/12 cycle, and the other three are just hanging with the other outdoor plants full time.

Oh and let me add that I have ordered more baskets to hang from my balcony. I’ll just create a privacy fence with plants. The view is already partially obstructed. Plenty of room for more flower baskets.

Went to the local hydro store today. I wanted to see if they carry the entire dyna-gro line (they don’t), and to pick up a 5” net pot to cover my exhalation duct on the tent so Marble can’t obstruct it by laying over it (or paws in it). I find it amusing when they try to talk to me about the benefits of something and I’ve learned enough to be able to teach some of them a thing or two. The net cup fits. Hopefully, Marble works around it.

So far, so good.

One of the guys at the hydro store was telling me that each branch only needs one fan leaf so he defoliates just about all of the fan leaves. I hadn’t heard “one leaf per branch” is all that the plant needs. Can anyone comment?

Imo there are no hard rules in cannabis and I would say this is largely strain dependent. I can't imagine doing that to a full sativa.

I agree all strains are different some of them are super vigorous and robust so you can defoliate the living shit out of them. Other strains may be more sensitive could potentially get shocked if you took almost all off at once. If your gonna do a heavy defoliation strip I would recommend doing it in a few stages and give the plant a little time to recover between each.

I’m relatively lazy with defoliation until it’s obvious to me there isn’t good light exposure throughout or good airflow. This is the plant he suggested I defoliate heavily. It is an autoflower and I am disinclined to do much that causes the plant any trauma.

Yeah, at most I'd take off the bottom fan leaves that are mostly shaded. With wind effecting them as well as the sun hitting them from different angles, there's more of a reason to have those fan leaves. If the light source never moves then it's easier to say which leaves get enough sun to justify keeping, so defoliation can be heavier.

Yeah Im lazy too I get it. I would let it start filling in with flower a bit more and just slowly start plucking larger water leaves one at a time. Not all in a day just one or two a day. Basically every time you pass by to take a quick look at her pinch one off. This way its gradual and the plant will also be creating new growth at the same time. As you start to transition into later flower it should be opened up a bit more allowing for more light penetration and better airflow. I wouldn't get too crazy just a slow casual haircut over time
