Hey all. What is the name of this orange style connector and the tool needed to it take apart? The cord’s plug lost its grounding prong ( I received the light in this condition and have only turned it on once to check if the bulbs were working). There has to be a tool to get these apart right!? Has anyone ever done this? If it’s absolutely not recommended I wont waist my time.

Also I have thought of just cutting the old plug off and wiring a new plug back together with wire nuts and not messing with the inside connectors (this seemed way less safe than using the inside connectors).

I'd just cut off the broken plug and put on a new one. I've done it many times. Appliance cords are sold on Amazon, though, so that is an option. If that's what you prefer, the easiest thing to do would be to replace those connectors with new ones.

Those are push-in connectors as opposed to wire nuts. Same deal, better connection. Cut the ends of the wire to get it off. Once the leads go in they don't come out. Not easily at least. ✌️

Thanks guys! I’ll definitely replace it. And I’ll cut the connectors off and use wire nuts on the inside of the housing.
