at what height do you start topping

so my plants are starting week 4 and there maybe 7 inches tall and are starting the 5th node
if you top at the 4th or 5th node do u really wanna top a plant that is not even a foot tall ?

There's no rules. Just opinions. Top it at the fourth node. Or at the 2' mark. You're the boss.

Reasons are vast why to top,for eg : space or area you are growing in..i top because its apart of my grow style .i top and then train the plant to the shape i want.thats outdoors...indoors im height restricted a little so i look for short mostly indica dominant and just watch how they grow.if i like how the laterals are growing and the top isnt getting too tall ill leave it...sometimes its best just to let them grow out first time around to get an idea how they grow then make changes the nxt time around if you are fresh at growing ..

I try to keep them less than 3'.
