Right on man.. love landraces.
currently have a 2x4 for veg /clones/ seedlings etc two
mars hydro 600’s
a 5x5 I use for vegging, training etc and a
Mars Hydro TS2000
A 4x8 will be going up as soon as these seedlings are hardened off a bit. About a week or two. Since it’s an open pollination, and just to see how these plants naturally grow, I will be using 2 gallon or 3 gallon (not sure yet), and just going straight to 12/12 as soon as I can.
I’m looking in a method that involves taking the males, and placing them in a separate tent, and collect all their pollen together and selectively pollinate certain females that don’t show intersex traits, mutations etc. Khalifa Genetics has an article on, super interesting.
Im also debating another method that may add a few weeks to the entire process, but can hopefully begin to eliminate the phenos that herm.
Basically, I’d take a few cuts of ever single plant, to make sure I have at least one good clone rooted and a few weeks in the lag.. label everything and take the original moms once everything is rooted and looking good in veg.. and flower them..
I have a stress test process I put all breeding moms through, and from there i can cull the clones from the phenos that show intersex traits etc.. take the clones from the best of the bunch, males included.. and re-run as another open pollination, but with phenos chosen for stronger traits.. then just release the original pollination as an open pollination without a selection process..
Without selectively choosing the best, maybe the genetic diversity is better. Not sure which route I’m going to go.. but definitely pumped..
check out my Instagram, a lot more will be on there as well..
