This is my second grow, and I wanted to push the limits by trying topping on an autoflower to see how it responds. I will document everything from germination to harvest, including training, lighting schedules, nutrients, and environmental conditions.
----------
Setup & Environment:
Grow Space: 170cm x 110cm indoor grow setup
Lights:
4x 150W LED (Main light)
----------
Soil Mix:
40% chicken manure compost
60% soil
3-year-old compost added in the final pot
----------
Nutrients Used:
Jungle Juice Bloom (Used during flowering)
----------
Training & Techniques
LST (Low-Stress Training): Light bending of branches to expose bud sites to light
Topping: Experimented with topping to see how Big Bud Auto responds
----------
Grow Journal
Germination & Early Growth
Planted on: November 1
Sprouted around: November 3-4
Light schedule: 20/4 from early growth late flower (18/6)
Vegetative Stage
----------
Started LST: Around Day 25-30 (Branches bent to allow more light penetration)
Topped: Around Day 30 (Removed the main growth tip to encourage multiple colas)
Response to training: Plant handled it well, continued strong growth
----------
Started flowering: Around Day 40-45
Added Jungle Juice Bloom: Around mid-flowering
----------
Late Flowering (Current Status)
Currently around Day 80
Buds developing well, covered in trichomes
Some defoliation done to improve airflow
Cold stress (snow on soil) applied to enhance trichome production
----------
Planned Harvest
Checking trichomes daily – Planning to chop the plant in 3-4 days
Final snow treatment tonight to encourage stress response
----------
Final Thoughts & Observations
Topping an autoflower worked well, plant recovered and produced multiple strong colas
LST improved light penetration, buds are evenly sized
Organic soil & compost provided steady nutrients without overfeeding
Cold stress (snow on soil) might have helped with resin production – still testing the effects
