I'm posting more videos of the biochar making processing and getting a garden ready
hell yeah brother, i mix some into my planting holes in the garden, i like to use a ton of half broken down leaves in each hole as well, plants love it nice sized garden there! probably close to my size! im about 60 x 40 atmI made 500# or so of biochar yesterday. I had 3 pits running. It was smoky but it was kinda fun.
My animals all stood and watched me. It took several hours and it was worth it.
I charged the goods with super nasty fermented chicken goat cow donkey poo and tons of grass leaves etc. The mix has been fermenting since Sept.
I added 5 gallons to 500# of charcoal and pond water to slop it up. I'm going to pulverize the coal today and Chuck it in the garden.
The info I watched said this will really help with microbial growth. I'm hoping it helps.
If the Indians used this method I think this will work. Meaning I will bring in beneficial microbes etc.View attachment 2393842View attachment 2393842View attachment 2393833View attachment 2393834View attachment 2393835View attachment 2393836View attachment 2393837View attachment 2393838View attachment 2393839View attachment 2393840View attachment 2393841View attachment 2393834View attachment 2393833View attachment 2393834View attachment 2393835View attachment 2393836View attachment 2393837View attachment 2393838View attachment 2393840View attachment 2393840View attachment 2393841View attachment 2393835
Hey! I used 1 hole 6 months ago. 24 inches wide like a wok, shallow center 12 inches. I did a test and it worked great. I have equipment so the 3 hole run was using the backhoe.Very nice. Have thought about making my own biochar but haven't made that leap. Mainly because it's a big hole to dig by hand. It's great for living soil/organic growing. I throw 2 or 3 gallons into every compost pile I make which is the base of my living soil. I highly recommend the book "Biochar for Home Gardeners ". Can't remember the authors name but it's available on Amazon Kindle. Edit: the book is actually " Gardening with Biochar " by Jeff Cox"

i put in 10 fruit trees, my backyard is all an old creek bed creek is at the bottom of a cliff now out back, all around me is fruit orchards and vineyards, even right on the other side of the creek, about 40 wineries around me. i overlaid the back yard with 2 layers of cardboard int he size i wanted (60x40) then covered with 6" of organic dark leaf compost (10 yards), 3rd year covered with plastic and cut 1' holes, i dig down about the size of a 5 gallon bucket, add my amendments, mix in more leaves, refill the hole with seedlingHey! Old citrus orchard. Very old. I've saved kinda, a tangerine and an orange. Both nasty. That's why I bought those tree tabs....
Been here for 3 yrs. 2nd attempt at a garden. We had the soil tested but it totally sucked. No non nada vegetative material below 3 inches of hard pack.
Did a number on it lately.
Can't wait to test the biochar. I added a shit ton of hay from round bales over the winter.
My damn pastures never grew all winter.
Any way.
Thank you!

plants love the back, lots of moisture, woven plastic makes it so i dont even really water all summer
took this earlier
Hey! I didn't reply earlier as I'm damn near blind. I had big ol magnifying glass delivered. Now I can see!!Very nice. Have thought about making my own biochar but haven't made that leap.
