todays bounty, its a 400 watt hps bulb, bought in canada brick and mortar for 119 plus tax, been using 430hps with crappy results . dont recommend going this route. i'm a new grower just making his way.

still dont see anything developing of note on the hopefully the god bud, it could be northern lights. i'm wondering if the environment causes the growth like that or its just the plants traits itself.

4x4 secret jardin tent
oscillating fan
cheap 315cmh with phillps 930 bulb, on now
electronic ballast 400 watt new energy MH bulb on now
humidifier that cant keep up with
Ac infinity cloudline 6 inch exhaust fan (running setting 3, 3x44 cfm)
mountain air 6 inch carbon filter
125 watt cfl for first 10-12 of starting seedlings,
heat mat

i have 4 blue cheese and one unfeminized god bud started, 4 is legal so i'm 1's getting chopped. yuck lol

very warm and drier air since adding big bulbs

a rookie mistake to avoid is buying those cable hooks on amazon and them not fitting the diameter of poles, i had to loop 1 carribeaner through the other, i made it work, save the headache i suppose.

Had a couple like that thought they'd never grow but eventually they filled in and grew normal

I had a Skunk #1 do that this go around. I started to yank it but let it go and kept it trained under my net. It started out with only 4 branches but now has 20 spears sticking up.
I figured it was genetic.

The ratchet hangers are upside down, you have the right idea, just put the part with the plastic on the bottom.

The part of the rope that you pull to raise the light can be left hanging loose or tied off.

the coco was 2 compressed bricks. (botanicare) and, i crumbled it up by hand which was dusty. since adding the coco coir to the 11litre pots it seems very dense since watering its expanded. its not super loose like it should be. the smallest blue cheese had the smallest roots, tallest blue cheese the largest best looking roots, the smallest one is burried up to its neck as it wanted to fall over. its taken alot of time and mental thought to figure out how to turn the carrabeaner upside down. your right. you win this time FourthCity! (said angerly waving fist) (have not fixed it yet)

Good day folks, these have been watered with 75% strength nutes. Canna A and B, rhizotonic, and cannazym. i ph'd the water to about 7 and then added nutes as per hydro shop suggestion(canna nutes are ph buffered apparently) . it appears now to be in the 6.2 range maybe (total guess) from the ph tester kit im using. i think i have had enough of ph pens in my short use. i like seeing the reaction of ph in the test tube shaker unit. and it looks like a nice yellow green tinge in the ph tester kit, so im guessing 6.2

ive been worried that the coco has no real nutrients in it except for earth worm castings. some yellowing on the best blue cheese and the god bud is really showing signs of ph swings in the roots zone from drying out. i heard that earth worm casting shouldnt dry out.

ive been also worried that the coco is so dense in the root zone it will take forever to dry enough. hopefully the rhizotonic will pull me through the root growing stress issue if there is one.

i've watered at 75% strength nutes and hopefully they show steady signs of improvement.

plants are between 20 and 15 days old

i'm having delays trying to upload pics, it doesnt list the pics on my google drive like it should for me, and it seems as if each picture i upload seems to be slow and maybe pass through a screening application to block unwanted pics. i cant seem to upload the last pic of after watering, i'll need to log off/on again and i'll lose what i typed.

From the pics it looks like you're just watering around the plant and not the whole pot. Is that the case?
For plants that size I wouldnt water anywhere near the stem, instead for a feeding or two only water around the edge of the pot. Doing that makes the roots grow out to get to the water. After once or twice like that I start to soak the whole pot every watering. But for grow in, a cycle or two just wetting the outside edge really helps with root formation.

Thank you, I'm trying to water around the outside like a hydro store suggested too. I was trying to make the whole pot evenly wetted so that ph would be steady thoughout. I got the last watered pic edited in above. i had to reboot the computer.

your right. the god bud wasnt wetted around the outside or throughout the pot as it looks from the pic. so it shows signs of ph swing i guess

morning folks, thanks very much for the feedback. the pots are heavy with compressed coco/water and not draining/drying as they should be. the funkyest looking plant, the god bud has had a tough time with PH swings as they have not been getting saturated properly when watering (they were small plants/ big pots). (not watered around the outside, there, i said it! i admitted my mistake, hard to do lol)

i watered these two last night (at 75% strength nutes) until water started coming out the bottom. i didnt do that last time and the PH difference affected the leaves. (my thinking is that the automatic buffer setting in the canna a/b nutes will be more accurate than my manual adjust of ph/ing the water and then i might get more leaf curl)

i'm dealing with higher temps (around 91 degrees) and low humidity (20%). i can turn up the exhaust fan flow and lower the temp, its just that its alot of airflow and causes the gas fireplace in the living room to run more and thus cost more. so i deal with 90 degree heat in the winter time. probably best to turn that airflow up a setting to 4 (4x44cfm)

its warm and maybe they are not getting all the fresh air they need 100%, so up'ing the exhaust fan to setting 4 to remedy the situation. i have a pretty good 6 inch carbon filter (mountain air) and was thinking that less airflow through it means it will stay newer longer, wishful thinking i suppose.

i think i just came up with a solution. i'm exhausting outside so why not bring outside air straight into the tent.

i notice the AC infinity fan has gone up and down in price in the last couple of months on amazon. i didnt get the model with the humidity and temp control and now seeing i could use that model here. it will be cold with the lights off and outside air circulating.

Couple things. 1, plants that small dont need a ton of air exchange. It would take them a couple days to use up the Co2 in there but honestly I doubt the tent seals up air tight, in which case it's probably always got enough Co2.

2, those environment numbers are a problem for small plants. 90/20 is putting on a huge transpirational demand making the plants roots work too hard. Keeping high humidity and lower temps is less stressful and allows the plant to build up a strong root system much faster.

3, outdoor air directly into the tent is fine so long as it's not dripping condensation, Its not too cold and dry, and you have a way to control temp in the tent. I'd recommend looking into using an inkbird itc-308 temp controller on your exhaust fan. They're cheap and accurate. And mine have been extremely reliable. It will only vent the tent when it reaches max temp and will drop it back to the low set temp then shut off.

3, realize the nutrients should be greatly reduced when you're running temps high and RH low. Half strength or less.. For plants that size In coco I would keep it around 250-300ppm tops.

Yahoo! somebody cares. Much appreciated update. the new fresh air in last night/over night dropped the temps quite at bit. (i dropped the air flow in/out to setting 1., 44 cfm after the lights went off at midnight), i read the update above this morning.

The humidity was around 31%, and with lights on, about~ 85 degrees. getting abit better. (930am readings, lights came on at 6am) (its plus 4 outside and milder/damper)

90/20 scares me abit when its pointed out, otherwise i'd just be rookie and thinking i was doing the best i could. Thank you, im a rookie and greener than my plants)

I will check out the controller, i think i'm maxed out for expenses though i bet its a worthy upgrade. and its a hobby so that means i should probably get one. mhahahahaaaha

I like the ac infinity exhaust fan, its quiet, moves a volume of air. I just thought the temp and humidity controller was advanced, and for me and wasnt worth 40/$50 doh

I paid 159/tax for the fan, i see its on sale on amazon for 149/tax (canadian) it went up in price quite abit last week a i guess due to christmas shortages.

good day folks, we are about to get rain/freezing rain here the next couple days. just keeping busy and updating my post.

not much to report on. i'm strongly thinking about adding a 315cmh to make things edgy. it will be 400mh+ 315cmh + 315cmh = 1030watts in a 4x4. i want strong plants and medication for pain and sleep. its still going for 250/ounce for the top quality you can get. the reserve had $100 ounces however you kinda get what you pay for and theres alot (a ton i bet) of dry weed out there. (i live between to reserves in ontario)

the ph pen sucks. it takes over a minute to dial in an incorrect reading of 7.0 for my vented tap water, when i use the liquid test kit it shows blue blue blue, there is a tiny pic of it on the floor in one of the pictures.

as of dec 29/today have been watered 2x with 75% nutes (i think 500ppm) and 1x ph'd vented tap water at 5.8 probably. 16-17 drops of ph down into approx 2.75litres of vented tap.

the bottom pic is the runoff into the container and its about half way up. im reading plants dont like to sit in run off however im hoping this exact amount is ok. if the runoff has been too much i have been lifting the pot out and tipping the excess water onto the floor to help with....

humidity 35% during lights on, probably 50% when lights are out

Canna nutes, at 75% ... feed, feed, water is the plan as per reading on the forum and hydro store from 15years ago

715 watts thinking about 1030watts and running it off peak hydro times (7pm-7am) which will be hard to keep from daylight/light leaks.

the power went out here this morning for 1.5 secs. it restarted the tv. i checked my tent and both 400 and 315 were off, (power was on), i flipped the toggle on the powerbar and shut it off. i just read recently that the CMH bulb i was thinking about getting has a restart time of 6-8minutes. i turned the power bar back on after 18 mins and the lights are functioning normal.

im getting yellowing, i'm hoping for some masters here for 2cents.

the roots are working hard through the (uncompressed properly) coco

lights are lowered

i'm thinking next feeding do a full nute dose worth of the canna A,B for the calcium magnesium deficency

they have been getting feed feed water with 500pmm nutes, rhizotonic, cannazym, A&B 30-35 days old

Are you getting 10 percent runoff when you water and then dumping the runoff? The one in the front looks awfully dry. I never let my coco dry, I water it daily whether I think it needs it or not so the coco is always full of fresh nutes. If you haven't been doing that you may need to do some extra runoff once or twice like 20 to 40 percent. I would probably bump it up to 600 ppm too. Are you using tap water or ro? You could just try it on one or two to see what will happen if you're not sure. In the future use smaller pots until the plants get bigger so you don't waste so much nutes. You can grow monsters in 1/2 gallon coco pots. Read some of this thread, it's what got me started.
