This will be my 3rd grow since Ohio became legal. I wanted to start a grow journal, for my records and to gain insight from more experienced growers than myself. The goal is to maximize yield without affecting quality. I started LST 2 weeks ago on the larger gal and last week after transplant on the shorter lady. Both have takin very well to the training. I should also mention I topped them both at 4 weeks. Organic grow. My plan is to scrog them through the rest of the grow. Part mainline/ part scrog. I know it's not the true way to scrog but I know a guy that did this and he got a LB in a 3x3, which is what I have. Below is the whole setup and soil/amendments. Any and all advice is welcome. I look forward to this grow journey, won't you join me?

Excellent, and i will follow along for this one as I just got a delivery from Humboldt and one of the strains that I bought was the Blueberry Muffins! I am just in my first grow, so trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible.

Oh, and howdy fellow Ohioan!

Do I need to top again? I am trying to avoid larf and end up with main colas. Also, with LST, do I keep staking the outer most tops down to be level with the new growth in the middle of the plant? Thanks.

I think I am understanding the mainline and topping. I made the decision to top again and removed all nodes underneath the outer most tops. Never done this method before and I felt like what I was doing is mean to the plant. However, my goal is main colas, I do not want to deal with larf on this grow. Trimming larf is irritating and I've practically stopped doing it. I understand waiting to do this now approaching week seven may increase veg time but they are photos and I don't mind the wait to get it right this time. Right now I am looking at 8 mains. Does anyone know when one should stop topping 16, 32, 64...etc? It is a 3 x 3 and I plan to setup scrog net after I figure out what is best for my space. I did hear to wait until at least 3 nodes of new growth before each topping, can anyone verify this? I also lowered the light from 24" to 18" to get to 400 ppfd without increasing my current intensity on the light. Thanks gang.

I grew that Humboldt county blueberry a few years ago. It was the best cultivar of that grow and if I recall correctly it was the easiest to grow amongst her sisters.

It looks like you've removed all shoots coming from the quadline you've made? If you were manifolding, i would have topped repeatedly (when the node direction is correct) to get to the 8,16,32 etc colas.

I like to quadline and either cull everyother node or just the the underside node of that every others.

So far, it's been relatively easy. After the first top, you would have thought it was an auto how fast it bounced back.

Yeah, I thought about that after cutting. Probably costed myself a few more weeks of veg. This was a method I seen late and thought I'd give it a try. Does it really matter if you can get all the tops to the same canopy or will the nodes further down, say a main stalk, not produce as big colas as say the outer most nodes, even if trained correctly?

Nah, you'll still be golden its just lost time. One could perhaps even argue the thicker stalk is a benefit? Im less sure on that tho to be honest.

I'm ok with that. I will be more proactive next grow with the training and topping. My first two runs ever were autos and I always felt rushed and stressed. I'm taking a more relaxed approach to the photos and it's been a much better growing experience. It's fun to experiment with the plant and see how it reacts, manipulating the plant and whatnot.

Agreed đź’Ż, Light Addict has his method of "fluxing" which i really found interesting. He does a bunch of variations of wide short training and whatnot. training into a large sphere, into "420" and also many different strains spliced onto one rootmass. i cant remember what forum i read those on but a google of "light addict flux" will surely bring them up if youre interested

Wanted to give an update. I believe I am done with topping. Both plants are at 16 tops each. I did notice some discoloring on the leaves which I am a little concerned about. However, I think I know why. I thought when I bought my fabric pots I had bought the 10 gallon pots. When I mixed up the soil I based everything off 10 gallons when they are actually 7 gallon pots, so my belief is it is getting way more of something. I just need to identify what that is exactly. Additionally, now that I have my top count, when do I flip to flower? I have plenty of room in the tent for vertical growth but I am going to scrog the rest of the grow.

Hello all, starting to get a nice even canopy with the plant I did not necessarily mainline, which was my goal. The discoloration has not spread to new growth, on the otherplant. Again, still not sure when to flip to flower. I also understand when you first start to top to get rid of whats underneath, whatwould be the larfy underdeveloped buds but after you reach your top count do I still continue to remove all the small sprouts. This seems counterintuitive. I know the one got super wide on me but that because I'm lazy and didn't stay on top of the training but I think it will all work out fine. I currently have 16 tops on one and from what I can tell about 25 on the ones I did not mainline after the second topping, which I think is the direction I would go next time.

I wanted to give an update on the Blueberry Muffins. We are now at week 12 and I just flipped about a week ago. The stretch is real! I think they are both doing well. However, I swear I always get a little tip burn. I cannot tell if it is from my light or an over feeding issue. My ppfd at 18" is right at 410 at 60% intensity. Should I be higher on my light through flower and slowly increase the intensity? Or, should I be adjusting light and intensity based off ppfd? I'm also unsure on how much I should be watering through flower. Some people say water to run off and others disagree so some clarity or advice would be highly appreciated. I just stepped them up to a full gallon and I wait for the top inch of the soil to dry and I also take notice of the leaves. They can be pretty telling when it's time to water. Anyway, I plan to hang my netting this week to start weaving the tops through. I decided to keep some of the smaller tops for experimentation purposes. Other than that, cheers y'all!!!

Looking good man!!!
I'm going to get some dal rods to go around and make the netting taught and more square. Any suggestions on light height and intensity through flower. I'm only about 400 ppfd and I feel like it could be more. Anytime I mess with it though I get a little tip burn. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
