So I've read a lot of people mention the older lights with blurple spectrum and how they aren't good. What exactly is it about the blurple lights ty hat is bad? I used them years ago and they seemed to work great.

It's not that they are bad. Most are not as efficient and produce a fair bit of heat in comparison. Plants benefit more from a full spectrum over just red and blue. There are photobiological processes that are influenced by varying spectrums missing for them.

They will grow good plants no doubt but a full spectrum imo is more beneficial
