Hello all! Welcome to my New England guerrilla outdoor 2011 grow journal.
I finally got my all my genetics from the Attitude wrangled up today and decided to mark the event by beginning my summer 2011 grow journal.

Background:

I am a horticulture hobbyist with numerous indoor CFL runs and one guerrilla outdoor season under my belt. These projects were grown primarily in organically fertilized, soil-based medium around longitude 50. Last season my partner, The Wiz and I had great luck with some Cannicopia Chunk D, Local NYCD x Strawberry Cough, and Local Durban Thunderfuck. We put in a ton of work with minimal yield due to various problems, a hurdle we intend to vastly overcome this summer with an earlier start and better planning/spot selection.

Current undertaking:
Veg | (1)Reserva Privada Kandy Kush | (1) DNA Rock Lock -> Mothers
Flower | (2) DNA 60 Day Wonder Autos

Summer prospects:
Cali Connection Sour OG*
Cali Connection Deadhead OG*
Reserva Privada Kandy Kush (mother established)*
Pyramid Tutankhamen
Pyramid Anesthesia
Pyramid Osiris
Dutch Passion Orange Bud
Dutch Passion Mekong High
Dutch Passion White Widow
Ceres Hollands Hope*
Green House The Church*
Barneys Farm LSD*
DNA Rock Lock (mother established)*
MDanzig Sour 60 Regular Autoflower*

The 'stared' items are those that I ordered with the intent of using, the others were freebies from Attitude. I have to note at this point that I was disappointed with this order from Attitude. Previous to this order I would have given them an A+ rating, however I seem to be missing two feminized seeds I paid for. That being said, the order came quick and stealthy as usual, with plenty of free genetics, so I won't totally write them off just yet.

I may use the WW, OB, or MH but I still have to conduct a bit more research as to how these will fair in the North East. Any comments/opinions on these three or any others from the above is greatly appreciated!

The Sour 60's will stay in the freezer until they are ready to be sprouted indoors, however the *'d genetics (all of which are single feminized seeds) will be started tonight to get the mothers ready for cloning asap.

Well that's all for now folks,
Bud D

You have an excellent start. When you sat "pot them out early" how early are you talking about. I would advice against anything earlier then May 20th. I would also advise keeping the seedlings on 16-8 lighting. That way they are going out in similar cycle as there will be 14 or so hours of light and increasing until June 22.

When I adhere to that strategy I have my biggest and best plants. Early flowering and then revegging stunts them bad. The 16-8 indoor lighting keeps them vegging and they keep going when they get outside.

I don't put most of mine out until June 1st. I have good results most every year. I know lots of people that use 24-0 and 18-6 though and do great.

You have some nice strains too. Nice selection of different types. very interesting.

i am a Pa grower. I am pretty good at it too. I keep sucking knowledge from threads like this and spread information where I can.

Welcome to the farm.

Hey folks, back with an update here!

Thanks for the input and encouragement so far fellas! Happy to see you'll be following my grow here Tobor, great to have someone on board from a similar climate with your expertise.

The LSD, Church, HH, Deadhead, and Sour OG were put into this handy seed separator a few days ago to soak for 24 hours and activate the hormones inside the seed, thus initiating the germination process. I previously fussed around with paper towels and such but through experimentation have learned that high quality seeds germinate just as well when soaked and simply planted in your container with a small amount of soil (>1in) lightly placed on top. Additionally, I always scrape the thin layer of skin (husk) off the seed with a sharp, clean exacto blade to assist in water permeation.

Most of the seeds cracked while in the water, all were carefully moved to solo cups with a basic soil mix I threw together based on regionally available supplies. It's comprised of recycled soil, Dr. Earth organic bag soil, sand, perlite, a little hydrated lime, and little coffee grounds. I'm also working on acquiring some earth worm castings to add to this mix. Anyway, reading about people cracking seeds is extremely boring so I'll spare you all. They are starting to pop and I'm starting to get excited.

On another note, I heard back from my associate that the order was in fact botched by the Attitude—I thought I was missing a few selections. They seem to have taken full responsibility for their mistake however, and are correcting it promptly. We have to pay shipping again which is a bit frustrating though, hope he gets another shirt at least! He'll be updating you with our revamped list in a bit.

Here's a few shots of my current set up, soon to be slightly expanded to accommodate moms. The PC houses the Kandy Kush and Rock Lock, the dresser contains a few 60 Day Wonders, but will house the clone stock in the future. The girls are suffering right now due to the fact that I was in a pretty serious accident recently and had to leave my babies for a few weeks. Everything seems to be bouncing back now but the 60 Day's should be much bigger (the reason I gave them an abnormal amount of root space).

To do List:
Acquire the rest of my genetics.
Start thinking about summer soil mix (leaning towards SUB's but might take an easier route).
Master cloning (I skill I am currently terrible at).
Finish building mom chamber.
Fix dresser light leaks.
Get super high.

And last but not least, some bud porn from my last 60 Day Wonder go.

I would HIGHLY recommend these genetics if you are looking for a tasty, potent auto. I'm currently using it as pain medicine after major trauma and it's doing it's job.

Glad to see another Kandy Kusher! Are you throwing that outside Mogrow? I'm excited about this one based on the positive reviews on this, as well as other sites.

What's up Bud D and everyone else. I'll be posting some updates on this grow, so I finally decided to make an account. I'm very impressed with this site and am excited to be a part of the community.

Here's some additional strains we will be adding to the mix:

Reserva Privada Cole Train
Dutch Passion Durban Poison
World of Seeds Afghan Kush x Yumbolt
Royal Dutch Genetics Six Shooter

Still need to do some research on how some of these additional strains will fare in the harsh NE climate. Any insight on this?

It's going to be a great season!

Wiz— glad to see you got an account up and running, and ecstatic to hear those other genetics are coming through. The Durban Poison and Cole Train are expected to do well up here, with the DP finishing early September and the CT hopefully wrapping up shortly there after.

I just conducted some surface level info gathering on the Six Shooter and 'Kush-Bolt', with the latter looking better than the former as it finishes around the same time as the DP. I've been wanting to try Yumbolt for a while now too so I'm pretty excited about that. The Six Shooter will most likely be shelved with the others we won't be using this summer.

Research time:
At this point I really need to do some deep research on the selected strains and figure out which will be cloned and which will be grown as single plants from seed. As of now I'm leaning towards the DP, CT, HH, and TC as the main program (clones), with a Kush side show consisting of the KK, SOG, DH, and KB (single plant—head stash).

Well off to do more research, including reading through Tobor's top notch Think Tank thread from last year. I'm going to finish that before I ask you any questions Torbor, but I'm happy to see you're a Durban fan and excited to see how that worked out for you.

Mogrow—Awesome, I'm excited to see if we have different phenos, I only have one bean. The yield on those girls varies for me, there seem to be really short phenos that yield about an ounce, and then some excellent BBWs with great coaxial growth that yield about 1.75 ounces. It's also really dependent on pot size because as soon as the roots hit the sides or bottom it switches to full blown flowering. That's the reason I tried the big pot experiment in the picture, hoping to get a big pheno that would grow as much as possible and yield well. Not sure how they'd do outside, but I'm positive there are better autos for that purpose.

420king—hTanks for the encouragement, great to see another seasoned East Coaster checking in!

Time to roll up a nice L and relax a bit, my injury is killing me. Wish I had that Afghan Kush x Yumbolt right now—it's supposed to be good for pain and mighty tasty.

Thanks for checking in guys!

Sorry for the radio silence everybody. Over the last few weeks a number of security flaws have come to my attention and I have thus decided to shut everything down until the spring when I can get outside. This really bums me out, however my freedom is worth more to me than money. Looks like I'll be "striking it at the patch". Unfortunately most of the seed stock was germinated and had to be thrown in the dumpster last night but I'm hoping to come back strong in the spring once things settle down here a bit.

Good luck everyone!

Thanks guys, caution is my middle name.
Ironically I wasn't able to move the dresser ladies due to my condition and ended up keeping them as they'll be done in a less than a week. I was more concerned about the seedlings/clones that were beginning to pile up. Maybe I'll post a follow up in the micro section regarding the dresser yield or something.

Tobor, I finally finished reading your think tank thread—great stuff! Thank you for making and facilitating that for everyone here, it's been an asset.
