(Sorry for long post) So for the last year, the first time ever for me, I grew Blackberry Kush feminized seeds hydroponicly indoors in tents flipping when needed to the 12/12 light cycle. I watched and harvested by the trichromes colors. I dried and then decarbed (260 degrees for 50 min using the STX activation machine ) and then made “tincture” with 20 grams of cannabis to 1 cup of 190 proof alcohol using the Magic Butter Machine. From there I made gummies to help wife and I sleep. This whole process was a huge learning curve and I think I was very successful for one year start to finish, I now have enough “tincture” to last almost 4 years ( based on wife and I taking gummies every night to help sleep) more than I hoped for.
So now I want to do a project where I just make CBD tincture without the THC high effect. I have a few questions:
(1) I don’t want to set up the tents again to flip for 12/12 light cycle. From what I understand you don’t have to ‘flip’ autoflower strains to 12/12. So I can give them like 18/6 for their entire grow. Question is, does there have to be total darkness for the “6” hours of “dark” on the cycle? That’s the reason I had the tents before so they would flip but I’m hoping with the auto flower that you can have some light “leakage” during the “dark” 6 hour time. Would it be ok to have some light during their “ dark “ time?
(2) Which auto flower strain is best for indoor hydroponic grow with has the highest CBD content and lowest THC?
(3) Would you monitor trichromes on said auto flower the same as I did for the feminized plants? Harvesting when trichromes are say 30 % amber?
(4) After drying buds for a week, I will decarb the buds. At what temp and time should I for the best CBD?
(5) Next step to make the CBD tincture I’ll use the Magical Butter Machine. My question is how many grams of decarb bud per cup of alcohol should I use? Like I said for the high in THC gummy’s I used 20 grams per cup of alcohol and then used like 13 tablespoons per batch of 130 gummies which gave perfect dosage for us. Of course we reduced or burned off the alcohol before adding the jello, etc.
I just don’t know how to judge for making the CBD either too strong or too weak? I mean for the gummies I had a goal of like 10-15 ml of THC per gummy. What are the goal(s) for CBD tincture?
BTW, I grow using the AeroGarden Farm 24xl.
So with the CBD we want to make as edibles and/ or salves and lotions .
