Clone tops turning brown at 14 days

basic stats:
-Cloned zurple
-Cleaned everything
-been great for 13 days But no roots
- day 14 tops turning brown no roots
- heat mat 71
- humidity 89
- dirt temp 71.2
-used spring water
- clone with root tone like i have for years been of an on since 93’
- gonna take another run but never had this happen

too wet causes the brown tips rotting,plant maybe not as healthy as it should be to clone from orginally?.,pple stem means lockout
