coco + perlite or straight coco will deliver.
Yields. Yes and the flavor and taste, can be supplemented with organics. Best of the both worlds. Can go more organic based foods or run chemicals.
- higher yielding with smaller containers
- white fuzzy roots
- hydro performance
- reliable
- contains tricoderma (sp?) fungi
- high CEC (catio exchange ratio), excellent drainage /air ratio
- difficult to over water
- can hold up to 8x its weight in water
- better root systems in less time
- does not shrink or have crust
- does not stink
- optimal ph
- anti fungal properties of coco help inhibit pathogens.
Can go higher ratio of perlite and treat more like hydro (4-6 smaller feeding per day)
or
Can go with less perlite to buy you time between feeding/watering and treat it more like soil/soiless.
ok now to what some may call the the cons. (if your room is setup for soil/soiless)
Easier than soil. I don't think so. Super soil is easy just add water no ph. Or a top dress. yes probably easier.
Coco Less work maybe not. Plants will grow faster and that requires more work. gotta keep on top of it. Can correct problems faster but plants can also go deficient or overfed easily if your not on it.
ok then the runoff. You may have to change up your room to accomodate the runoff. Coco likes more runoff. Soil can get away with pots in saucers.
if your not moving to coco. the coco based mix is en excellent suggestion or sunshine #4 should help with yields.
all is moot if your genetics or enviroment is not ideal.
