This guy takes a 1.5" Grodan cube and saves a bunch of Hydroton. The outer tie down ring is around ten inches in diameter. I may reduce the upper cup volume after trying this one.

I guess the couple bucks for the hydroton is just not have big of a deal to me. I will just stick the basics for now. What is the cost per unit of these?

Beats me. Super cheap, whatever it is.

I may not need any Hydroton at all with this, dunno yet. This is the first one I've made with the integrated tie down arms, looking forward to that.
