Define a "master grower"

ok guys...been looking at resumes for growers applying to commercial warehouses, and quite a few people out there are calling themselves "master growers". A few instances reference a lifetime of growing, some people ran a 100+ light warehouse for a year or two, some people crank a quarter lb per sq ft indoors, some people ran jungles of 20 foot plants in humbolt. Whatever the experience is, it seems the qualification for a "master grower" is pretty broad and, at this point, mainly defined by ego, and not some unilateral certification board or something.

So...my question is...what makes a master grower? Is there a secret school somewhere? Is it about how much your sacks weigh? Experience? Dick size? Because I've met a fair share of "master growers" out there, and the people who use that term really seem to have no clue what it takes to grow a plant, outside of the instructions.

A master grower would be adept at all fields of growing and all styles. Should have extensive knowledge of soil science, plant biology and integrated pest management.

But you dont need all those qualifications to grow dank, js.

Reminds me of when a guy wants work, maybe to help me build a new building, and he tells me he is a master carpenter...then you find out all he does is talk and smoke cigarettes all day but still wants master pay!

idk man don't we always keep learning from mother nature? When I think of masters I think of kung fu lol, My school of thought is more of a jack of all trades in growing master of none. For example id rather be able to do everything to a decent level then just master one or two styles. Just my opinion. Before they passed away I knew some native elders who grew everything and provided for many people...learned a lot from them, they learned from mother nature.

I've never met one, at least not yet, but I have had 100's of people introduce themselves as one. When I was looking into getting my Texas Master Gardener cert, the very first module was that you had to walk thru a forest with a master gardener and identify by sight 800+ plants by genus and species in English and latin...I kind of use that as my benchmark..lol...so needless to say I haven't met any that measure up the bar set by those super smart farmers and gardeners yet. Growing some weed, an easy one to grow at that, over and over, doesn't really measure up.

The other funny thing to me is that I know some of the best growers in the biz and in the country and not one of them would ever refer to themselves as a master grower...We tear up any application that even has the term in it at my spots..for me it is almost the fastest way to loose all credibility in this game

A so called Master is one that never stops learning and keeps the passion while gardening with positive attitude. Learning to build an environment is an art on it's on, and what to feed and harvest is another. The best way I try and judge a thumber is by his greed and way of thinking for being a Master is just a title or someone who in their mind thinks they are invincible, IMO. Closed minds don't get fed, IMO. I encourage all to to thumb but it's up to them how far and deep they wanna grow with their crop, Funk on

Master Grower is a state of mind..
I've met people who manage 100 light spots and do very well BUT they just follow the labels and sit in our shop asking questions ALL fucking day.

I personally think a degree in Botany and Organic Chemistry is a must, followed by great leadership ability, an open mind and an unsatisfied thirst for additional knowledge.

In my opinion(which probably isn't worth much) anyone calling themselves an "expert" or "master" of anything has somehow concluded that they now know all there is about their particular craft. I really don't know how anyone could ever claim such a thing when it comes to growing and I would be quite sad if for some reason I found myself "all knowing". I have been farming for over 36 years and I still learn something new almost every single day. When the day comes there is no more knowledge to be acquired, just shoot me because I would not want to live in a world with no more mystery or the excitement of discovering the previously unknown.

Does a master grower still try new methods and compare and share? Funny for most so called Master's tend to keep their secrets to themselves for fear of losing their so called Knowledge(aka Power). A true master will teach and learn till they can't any more due to being 6ft deep. Funk on

Being lazy and procrastination just doesn't cut it. You have to put in the time and effort. Work ethic and experience means way more than any books or hours of reading online Pot forums. You just have to dive in head first and really put in the time to become efficient at this craft.

Id. Have to say a master grower is someone who runs a huge greenhouse of all sorts of different plants and different growing styles. From edible to trees to ornamental grasses and everything inbetween. Someone who learns everyday and keeps learning throughout their lifetime.

Read something in a thread awhile back and the guy basically said ''How hard is it to become a master grower of something that will grow out of a crack in the sidewalk?,lol.To me a master grower better have some degrees in something and know about alot more plants than just cannabis.I have been growing 35 years and i still dont know shit,i will bestow upon myself zoners title though of Master Baiter,that one i feel confident in.

Based on your avatar I would say you have that title licked ...... Within a few more years, you will become the all time 24 hour 7 day a week " MASTER BAITER " once completed you will also be able to teach females how handle "THE BAIT" ..;)
