Well, from that picture, we can’t even tell if it’s got any Trich combs on it! So we are in about the same boat you are!😁🐒 you need to figure out a way to see the trikes! Ultimately, it’s your call! You’re the grower! And it ain’t rocket science!

I have read journals where guys choose based on retraction of the calyxes and the shriveling of same. I use a 30-60 loupe set and look at trics.
Based on what I see in those journals and your one pic of 4 square inches of a plant I think it is done but again, I look at trics.

I was just worried that it was too late and it's garbage. It's drying now. But looked like that when I chopped it down.

It looks like it might have some rot. Pull on the (greenest) sugar leaves. If they detach then it’s garbage/rot. If the leave breaks/crumbles then the brown/dead parts are most likely just burned up and you can trim up the bud. But give a good look inside and check that it didn’t mold/rot.

I have the same problem. I have a loupe but I shake so much it's hard to keep steady. But it gets me pretty close.
you can go buy on aliexpress 3$ 60x lupe that has a phone clip now you can put it on your phone and zoom with it soo you get around 200x zoom you can see them really good.now if even with that setup you shake too much then cut a bud put it on a table and zoom later dry and test smoke it :D

Only way to tell is to look closely at the trichomes on the buds with a jewelers loupe or magnifying lens. ✌️

combo response to this picture and to the OP both lol

its my opinion that even with indicas if you harvest at anything beyond 10=20% am,ber youve actually most likely gone too far for most peoples preference, including most growers, most will much prefer those smokes as close to 100% cloudy as possible, because even if you nail your temps and humidities, if you actually keep a loupe on hand, and actually keep a close eye going during dry and cure, youll notice pretty much ALL flower carries an additional 10+% amber beyond when you cut it down.

Its actually quite rare that I, or anyone that consumes my flower prefers anything i cut past 10-15% amber trichs, regardless of genetics or indica vs sativa, regardless what they say of their own opinion first hand, when you have such flowers for them to actually sample directly, and side by side. Once those last clears go cloudy, going any further only benefits final end weights, even the other growers i know personally, almost without fail, who say they prefer a 50% amber flower, but also almost without fail, always prefer the stuff i produce thats closer to 100% cloudy for whatever reason, and usually no one prefers the stuff i leave for extra weight. Not once in almost 20 years of growing has a single person preferred my over ripened smoke besides 1 single soul. To me personally, thats something you do for extra weight, and it actually impacts the quality of the smoke negatively. Even to most people that think it doesnt for them

Back in KC i spent years as a private and commercial grower both, growing pretty exclusively for profit. I sold a LOOOOOOT of flower in a metro area, across lots of different demographics. The closer it is to 100% cloudy, the more people like it, the more they come back, the more repeat buy it, regardless of what they think their own opinion is. Just my 2 cents, and something i learned selling cannabis flower to lots of different kinds of people in a pretty big area over several years. (I had people in kc who preferred sativas, but held the indica opinion so strongly personally, i had to lie about what flower was to make sure they got flower i knew they would like (lo-fuckin-L, right?)

i had one single person that liked the super amber frost over ripened stuff consistently, and would actually only buy indicas taken well into amber if i had them. And she was an older woman hyper addicted to truck stop grade black coffee, and was on a chemotherapy that made her hard to eat or sleep (shes in remission now, btw, 5-6 years later, pretty fuckin cool).

Lots of people say they prefer those true amber frost couch lockers, but most of those people wont buy more after they actually get some too, theyll go back to the peak potency ones pretty quickly. But like i said, to this day, ive only ever had opne single person actually prefer the amber frost stuff, if i had other stuff around that wasnt, assuming they actually tried them both.

def do experimenting at different harvest points to see what you like best, it may not actually be what you think you like best, it actually rarely is if you get into the nitty gritty and experiment for yourself rather then just assume.

And like i said, always assume an additional 10+% going amber during dry and cure,. even if your temps and RH is dialed in perfectly. if you actually keep track during with a loupe, there are no plants so far in my experience that are exceptions to this tendency. Even if you harvest at pretty much 100% clopudy trichs, with very few clear or amber either one noticable, by the time those buds are in sealed jars to cure, you are going to have 10-15% amber trichs on them.

Another thing worth noting, is that you need to be checking trichs on the tops, in the canopy, and if you can, within the canopy flowers here and there. Some plants the trichs inside mature quicker, and some mature slower, and on many plants top cola surface trichs are actually the WORST place you can possibly judge trich maturtiy, yet its the most common place a grower will go to look because its the easiest to get to.

As a grower that grew for lots of people, and payed close attention to what people came back the quickest for because its how i made my livelyhood at the time, even 9/10 people that will state they prefer couch lock highs and amber frost buds on their own word, come back more often, more frequently, and with higher praise if i sell them buds as close to 100% cloudy as possible. And other growers (no one whips out a loupe to check dry/cured flower with any regularity lol, even growers) give those buds the highest praise when i share samples too. for whatever reason 😉
