DIY Undercurrent, 1kW, CO2, and a chiller in a 4x4 tent

Hi everyone,

Here is my new tent set up. It is a UC knock-off with 5 gallon buckets, 2" PVC, uniseals and a Rubbermaid Brute 20 gallon res. Temps are kept in check by a 1/10 hp JBJ Arctica chiller.

I am following the H&G chart to the tee. It has been awesome so far with the pH rock solid at 5.6 all week.

The environment is controlled by a Sentinel CHHC-1, a 5k BTU window AC, and a small humidifier. Temps are 85f during the day @ 1500ppm and 50% humidity and 75f at night with 50% humidity as well.

The ladies are Alien Dogs from PNC. They just finished their second week of veg and are looking pretty good. One of the clones was tiny and barely hanging onto life when I got it and has been playing catch up ever since. I think I will veg one more week before I flip them.

The smallest one is starting to show what looks like a Ca deficiency on a couple of the lower leaves, gonna pick up some cal-mag tomorrow.

You planning to swap that humidifier for a dehumidifier in flowering?

I also see no fans for air circulation. That's a must.

Bummer for the one runt.
On your next run, maybe pick up 6 clones, and then pick the strongest four after you veg them for a little while.

Other than those things, you are looking awesome.
Keep posting your progress. I am sure that there are a lot of people who would love to emulate a similar small low budget UC grow.

Yes, I am planning on switching the humidifier out as soon as I need to. I need to pick up a couple of clip on fans, I'll probably try to find some today.

Do you guys think I should veg them for another week or flip them now? Each plant only has 4 sq ft. and 3 out of 4 of them are now as wide as the buckets.

I'm having an issue now with what looks like a Ca deficiency on the smallest clone. I am getting increasing rust spots on the lower leaves. My pH has been steady at 5.8 so that shouldn't be the problem. I am running RO water with no CalMag but the larger plants aren't showing the deficiency. Should I still give them a dose of Cal Mag?

I would let them go another week. Especially with the one runt. If you are running RO, then the cal mag can't hurt. Makes perfect sense to me that it would be a ca deficiency. The small plant is just precursor, it has less buffer.

Day 19

Here they are at day 19. I did a res change last night and started the 3rd and final week of veg. 1.2 ec and 5.8 pH.

nice system bro, i have a bucket current too with a 1000 hanging vert.. my alien dogs dont yield much but i think ill get around 1.5lb's off this harvest... good luck

Not sure but it looks like your air pump is in the room. If it is, get it out of there asap. You'd be pumping 1500PPM co2 into your root system.

Yes, you should be running a cal/mag product. With RO there are no base elements. Id adjust the base(before nutes)to 200-300ppm. Then mix from there. I dont use RO but my city water is pretty stripped. So i add 1ml per gallon+/- to get in that window.

I think with cal/mag you will notice a huge overall difference.
