Hello fellow growers. I'm going to try my first attempt at Ebb and Flod. I have previously grown in NFT systems but it is time to try something new.

I've been planning on using plastic pots in the system.

I had planned to harvest at different times according to my plan so the flexibility with pots alone is preferable as I otherwise I risk damaging the root system of the plants I harvest if the roots have grown together in the flod tray.

But I've started to think if a cover of the flod tray is preferable to reduce the risk of algae and other unpleasantness?

What would you have experienced with Ebb and Flod recommend?

A correx or Panda film cover over the tray with holes for the pots, or just run on with the pots without cover? Is the risk of algae and root disease so high without protection that my idea with pots will potentially lead to more hassle than benefits for me?

Could it be enough to move the pots and clean the tray and mix some Hydrogen Peroxide into the tank to avoid potentiel problems?

Thanks in advance for your help!

When I use to run in 4 inch cubes , the black and white sided plastic was the weapon of choice.
