Hello friends,

During the last couple of years I have successfully completed my grow periods and smoked quality weed with friends. However, in the last few days, something unexpected is haunting around my grow room. I will upload photos of the situation and I kindly ask your help to guide me.

As you will see, the plants look healthy, as is shown by the green foliar of the plants. Yet, when you look closely, you see the white pistols have difficulty growing properly - even though it is almost third week of the flowering period (flipping to 12/12 on 27th)

I grow in soil (biobizz) and the plants are currently under 400watt led (half of the whole power) - only two weeks ago I added nutrients which was around 150ppm (it is quite little amount, and it should be added that the plants showed no bad reaction to it) the temperature has never trespassed 25 degree.

My suspicion is that the door of my grow room was half-open, that's to say, it is possible that light leak could happen and there is at least a hermie. Or, it is just the genetics and that's the way how it forms it's buds. This is the first time I try these genetics (bruce banner 3 photo). This leads me confusion; otherwise I will cut all these plants and begin a new adventure.

What do you think?

Thanks in advance

When pistils are turning brown in force, it makes me wonder about pollen. I'd inspect the plants closely, top to bottom, looking for pollen sacs and nanners.

@ArtfulCodger thank you for your answer. It was my suspicion as well. And actually I found two non-female. A few pollen sacks that were not opened yet. I cut them and put them in garbage.

What do you think about cutting all the plants and begin a new adventure with new plats? I don't believe these plants will provide me with quality buds, as they have already pollinated. Because I see such brown pistols everywhere on the plants - not only on a few areas.

However, it is only 2 weeks in the flowering period and these pollen sacks were not opened yet. Is it a possibility that the plants will continue growing properly? I don't really know how long it takes for a cannabis plant to get pollinated?

Thank you in advance

It doesn't take long, if you have pistils and pollen.

Because it's early in flower, there are a lot of brown pistils, and you've already found pollen sacs, my guess is that your grow has been pollinated. If you wanted to be sure, you could wait a couple weeks, and you'll start to see calyxes swell and harden as seeds form in them. If you don't see that, then something else is going on.

Assuming it's pollen, then it's a question of whether you want seeds or not. If you started with feminized seeds and got stress herms, I wouldn't invest more time in them, except for fun. As for yield, it will be lower. If there are a lot of seeds, it will be a lot lower. And picking the seeds out will make trimming a pain in the ass. If you started with regular seeds, then you're making more regular seeds, and it's up to you if you want to run them to maturity and try to grow them out.

If it were my garden, I'd probably wait a couple weeks to confirm the run is seeded. Then I'd chop the whole thing, and clean like a maniac to get as much pollen out of the space as possible. Walls, floor, ceiling, fans, inside ducts, etc.

@ArtfulCodger, I see. What I am going to do then is putting new seeds in soil. While they grow, I will have to time to observe these pollinated plants. Let's see what will happen. However, if the plants fail to produce new white pistols in the following days, I guess it is better to choke them without losing time.

One last question, what do you mean by cleaning like a crazy? Can the pollens remain for such a period and pollinate? This is my first hermie issue, so I really don't know. in my experience, I have already dealed with watering problems and nutrient burn, among others, but this is the first pollen issue.

Thank you very much

pollen is only viable for a few days after release in normal environnemental conditions, water is enough to neutralize pollen

Question, were the males that were in there fully develop and spread their pollen? How long were the males in flowering. Other causes of pistil stress are mentioned below, but if you truly believe those males were in flowering long enough to spread pollen then that would be your culprit. But if those males weren’t developed and not spreading pollen, I would look into these below.

Environmental Stress: Stress factors such as excessive heat, low humidity, or strong winds can cause pistils to turn brown early. High temperatures, in particular, can “burn” the pistils.

Physical Damage: Touching or brushing against the pistils frequently or damaging them during maintenance can cause them to brown prematurely.

Nutrient Imbalances: Overfeeding or underfeeding your plants, especially with nutrients like phosphorus and potassium, can cause abnormal pistil development. Excessive nitrogen during flowering can also disrupt normal bud growth.

Light Burn: If your grow lights are too close to the plants, the intense light can burn the pistils, causing them to brown prematurely. Adjusting the distance between the lights and the canopy can help.

I’m going along then lines of these options being the cause if you’re not able to find a viable pollen source.

@ArtfulCodger thanks a lot. I will do as you suggested. @HerbalEdu, thank you for the contribution as well. I wonder if you have ever come across such a pity? Are they pollinated? My mind and heart dont want the truth, obviously.

pollinated weed isn't the end of the world, that was rather common few years back.

un-pollinated weed aka sensimilia is something fairly new in weed history ...

just carefully pregrind your weed by hand to remove any seed or forming seed that could crush in the grinder an taste bad.

@SchwiftyGrower, I don't think they were fully developed. I flipped on 27th, and I start seeing brownish, reddish pistols on 6th (I check everyday) -

As the door of the cabinet was almost half-open all the time it is possible that
