There are indeed DE bulbs for the new 400v, 600 watt
gavita/philips systems. Grener's carries them.
I don't know if there is a true difference between the DE and SE performance in these new light systems? I was pleasantly susprised to see that the philips greenpower 400v lamps are only $58 for the 600 watt ones. That is a freakin deal! That, and a new miro-aluminium insert each year is under $100 to keep things at top performance.
So yea my question is, what advantage is there to using the double ended lamps over the mogul base? They are both called the same thing, philips greenpower 400v. TTY - the DE lamps are not designed for vertical but you could easily remove the aluminium reflector from a
gavita pro SE fixture and hang that vertical. There would be a tiny bit of light blockage from the arm that runs above the lamp and attaches to the reflector but not enough to worry about.
And I gotta say, the new
gavita pro systems are amazing. So light, awesome design that is just beautiful in its lines and simplicity. The whole ballast/reflector unit weighs about the same as the Lumatek 100w digital ballast alone. I'm glad
gavita set me straight on reflectors as well, I used to think bigger was better but now I know that just diffuses the light, and glass robs you of lumens the plant should be getting.
