Expired potting soil. Who knew?

Morning fellow growers,
Finally figured out why my plants were not growing and looking sickly!
The organic potting soil expired.
It was too old and my babies couldn’t breath.
Potting soil should not go more then 2 years. It breaks down and turns salty plus the roots can’t get oxygen.
All have been re planted in fresh soil!

True but dont know where you got 2 years from.

Its 6 months for organic ammended mixes and up to 12 months depending on storage conditions for a peat mix.

Its 6 months for organic ammended mixes and up to 12 months depending on storage conditions for a peat mix.

I got two years off the bag of soil, Fox Farms Happy Frog potting soil.

I got two years off the bag of soil, Fox Farms Happy Frog potting soil.

Not with the original nutrients intact. Or the lime likely. The bacteria eats it over time.
