Hey Farmers

I was given a Jack Herer autoflower seed and thought I would try my hand at autos for fun. I popped the seed on April 15th, planted her right into a 5gal pot of straight Canna coco. She was lovingly hand fed just around the plant until she was big enough to go on the auto drippers 3X a day. I just used what I had laying around for nutes. So she had Dutch Master Grow nutes and is getting Advanced Nutrients Sensi Bloom now. I am also using some silicate. She was in my veg area, but about 2 weeks ago she really started hating the humidity. I took her out of the veg area and put her on a table in my grow room under a 2’ 4 bulb T5 light. I’ve been hand feeding to about 20% runoff 2X a day since then. I topped at the 7th node on May 15th and lollipopped about 10 days ago. I know some say not to top autos, but I’m not really concerned about yield so I thought what the hell. I’m growing this one just for the experience of it, and I wanted to see what would happen. How do you experienced auto growers think I’m doing?

2 months and no sign of flower? Not really an auto.
She’s been on 18/6 the entire time, but some of it was under a shop light. Not very powerful at all. That may have something to do with her slow flowering. And topping may have stunted growth. She is starting to flower. If it was a photo, I’d say about the end of week 1.

Well, I’ve gone and done it now. The canopy was just too thick. The buds weren’t getting much light. Not sure how much you should be pruning autos, but it needed it. So I thinned the canopy out some. I opened it up pretty well for the top buds, but it does look worked over lol.

Here’s an update. I have no idea how much longer this plant is going to go. I ended up just putting her outside. I found her a shady spot since all she’s known has been T5’s. Didn’t get shocked at all and has started to put on weight. Watering her twice a day by hand. I LST by pulling the branches apart to open up the canopy a bit. But I’m just letting it roll at this point. She’ll be done when she’s done. If I get an ounce off her I’ll be happy.

The buds keep building. The buddy I got the seed from popped one also and his is doing the same thing. Taking a while to flower. But getting closer. I believe he said they were Crop King genetics.

Not too bad at all actually. I was a little worried, but she seems to be finishing strong. Trichs are cloudy and I think I’ll pull her down in a few days. I’ve already been flushing with 300 ppm of Epsom Salt twice a day for the last few days. The buds have really filled out this week. This is one of the buds at the edge of the plant, not the main fork in the middle. Which is a bit larger but harder to get to in order to photograph properly. I’ll post the final harvest pics and dry weight in a week or so.

Chopped her down today. I decided to do a wet trim. No hay smell, so that’s a good sign. Here’s some pics of how it turned out. I’ll post up the weight after 7-10 days in the drying cabinet.

Jarred them up this morning. The buds are a little airy, but smell great. Kind of a pine/fruity smell. I ended up with (and I’m not making this up) 1.87oz of buds. So almost 2 zips. I’m happy with that from my little auto flower. This was a fun side project. If you’ve never popped an auto flower before, I recommend it. It’s a little bit of a different animal, but not having to worry about photo periods is nice for a change.
