My tallest (LemonGrass) had flopped over at some point today. It looked like someone hit it in the head with a baseball bat, or had too much to drink and lost balance lol. I propped it up with a plant twistie tie. One of the Pineapples looked ready to flop over so I propped that one up too, then turned the light to about 35%. (From 25%)

can always add dirt to the cup for support, and also plant it deeper when you transplant to a new pot to help keep as much verticle room to work with as possible. Looking good man!
Awesome thanks! I figured I’d do that when transplanting but wondering if I should add more before that...do you just do it right before you water?

Nice prop job! I usually use a toothpick or cut a wooden skewer in half. Your seedlings look amazing just so ya know!

*correction: Light was turned up to 40% yesterday

Anyway, today I rinsed some clay pebbles and mixed around 70% Coco, ran feed solution through it till run off in a solo cup with holes in the bottom, then after it drained I scooped a couple handfuls out and reinforced those lanky stems. I put a twistie back in for the LG just in case. I also sprayed tops of medium on other plants with feed solution since it was drying on top but still moist underneath. Plant growth was awesome between last night and today!!! Not sure if it was due to the coco drying out a little since the first full watering a couple days ago, or due to the light increase last night before lights out.

Just realized I should cut a hole in the prop cup so the runt can drain when watered.

I thought you were supposed to keep coco saturated and feed every time?
It seems to be holding on to water very well. I do feed every time because the Mantis nutrient needs to be there for the PH to be correct, but the CEO of Mantis said not to let the coco get overly wet, so im just keeping it moist. Seems when I gave a full watering was when they slowed way down.

Yes coco needs to be saturated but I think theres a difference between saturated and soaking wet. Especially at these first stages of growth the seedlings will drown if the substrate is soaking wet. When I grow in coco usually for the first couple weeks I only need to water 2 or 3 times.

Thats good to know...today the top of 2 plants was drying to light brown. It didn’t seem that it was dry underneath though so I just wet them up with the spray bottle and called it good, probably give a little more before lights out tonight. I gave the runt a full watering but not to runoff, felt like it was right before runoff. It’s my guinea pig so I want to see if it reacts to more water than the others...but it’s the runt so hard to judge lol.

Temps rising to 80F without humidifier on when lights come on...thinking I should swap it over to always on instead of off with the lights because it’s digital and doesn’t turn on with the lights...food for thought when shopping for a humidifier.

Day 10. Left to right: Sour Power (bag seed), PUDC (HSC), PUDC (HSC), Lemon Grass (HSC), then the runt...another Pineapple Upside Down Cake from Humboldt Seed Co.

This lemon grass looks kinda cool, even though not ideal being lanky and stretched out.

I still have only watered until runoff once. Only been spraying top of soil. Today I used a water bottle to dribble around the outside of the coco, not at the stem. Plants are a little droopy, pale lime green and curling up at the edges so I raised the light 1 inch. Not sure if that’s the problem but hoping it helps.

Temps: 70-77F (21-25c)
H: 35-55% according to one hygrometer, 45-65% according to another

They look great to me. I think you were right not to do another full watering as that substrate still looks fairly watered.

Yeah, I’m wondering if I should’ve added perlite instead of those huge clay balls lol. Because only the very top layer gets dried out like a light brown color, but the rest stays moist so I just spray the top when it starts to turn light brown. Well, this time I dribbled instead of sprayed lol.

I mean when you go to repot into bigger pots you could always switch to perlite then if thats what you're thinking?

I could...but I think I’ll stick it out with the clay, maybe it drains better with bigger pots and root masses. I’m getting to know the characteristics of how it behaves a little so won’t switch it up until next grow...unless it works out really well. I’d like to try organic at some point too so who knows. Growing is pretty fun. I dig it. Can’t wait until flower and when they start to stink aaaah!!!! Oh cant wait!
