I grow outdoors, so using the same soil year to year. The
Fox Farm Ocean Forrest IMO is a much better soil than the
Happy Frog. The consistency is what you’d expect from soil as opposed to the shredded bark in HF. But it’s not worth spending the ridiculous prices some people are paying. I can get a 1.5 cf bag for $12, so normally grab them. I see that FF has a new blend called “Cream of the Crop” (coco & perlite) and it’s $40 a bag. That’s a freaking joke! You don’t want to be buying the cheap Kellogg (which is giant wood chips) but there’s a ton of decent potting soils at $15 bag. Growing weed is just like growing other garden crops. So try and get local advice from garden clubs or Next Door about what’s available in your area.
The one difference is that you’ll want some perlite or other material to give you better drainage indoors. As overwatering is a major problem for new growers.
