First time grower building a LED closet

Hi,

I am a first time grower and I am building a 3.5 x 3.5 closet. not sure of the height yet ( any insights?) I am planning on growing an automaric strain from royalqueen seeds, Im gonna get some Mylar in the closet.

Im thinking on LED for lighting and will appreciate some insights from the experts.

The panel reports itself as 14 W.
If this is true, then two of these will pull 28W.
Even with perfect light absorption, this does not look like enough power to do much.
By expanding the image of that bulb I see it is 5 W times three units is 15 W.

I like to imagine that a well tuned LED might yield twice the power efficiency of HID.
I think that most growers feel that this may be enough light to keep plants alive, you will probably need ten times this power to get useful growth and flowers.

This is my estimation.

LED's are a great option...but they are not a cheap alternative to other lighting, which is what I think you believe with those lights you are looking at. Getting into led's will cost at least the same as hps upfront. Most of the time more, specially if you want to actually get some results.

For that space you need to spend some cash to go led's. If going hps, then go 600w.

At least 6 feet high if going hps. LED's will definitely be better with heat no matter what height cab.

Yes, but...
All of your environmental conditions need to be controlled.
Temp, humidity, light, and air flow.
There is no question in my mind that the most expensive LED lamps are able to grow good bud.
They produce less waste heat but still cost like a bastard.

For a 3.5X3.5 foot space I would estimate that a 200W HSP is about as small as you might get away with.
And, I'd make the box as tall as I could.

Ill be getting HPS after all jeje Im thinking a 600w Ill buy the pieces little by little and might ask for some advice.

I'd go with something cooler in that small space... I would go with LEDs.

I'd use 2, 240 watt LEDs.
