Hi all,
Like I said I'm a first time grower I just got my medical card and I am having trouble deciding my first grow. I really like the LED concept, they use less power, don't generate allot of heat, last for years if taken care of and are more of a precision instrument. By that I mean the wavelengths of light emitted are very specific to plant growth and can be fine tuned even further if your model has independent dials and switches for each wavelength of light. My problem is that I am having trouble deciding on what to get, as I said this is my first grow and despite reading everything I can find about growing, in reality I am fairly clueless. Here is my dilemma, I have a grow room which is 6'x6' and 6'5" high. Now I can spend about $350 on a 1000w HPS and it will cover that space, but then I also need to buy a fan to cool the light (and the room) I have to run a bunch of ventilation which means even more money not to mention the jump in my power bill every month. I would much rather run a LED grow but I don't have several hundred dollars to spend on a light. I could afford a 300-400 dollar LED light right now but from what I understand that only lights a very small area, I have a 6x6 room, that's 36 sq feet and although I don't need to use the whole room I just want to have enough light for a decent grow and with my VERY limited knowledge I'm not sure how much I can grow with what amount of LED lighting. I would really appreciate any help you guys could give me. Such as how many plants can I grow with a light in my price range? I'm not sure but I think they only have a footprint of about 2 or 3 ft by 2 or 3ft. To me that seems barely big enough for one plant or is my lack of knowledge preventing me from realizing I could cram six plants in an area that size with no problems lol. Again, I'm a total newbie and just need some help designing a decent grow with a 300-400 dollar LED light and enough plants under it to make it worth my time, effort and money. Thanks in advance for your help.
