I am planning on making a DIY watering system using a reservoir, aerator, and aquarium pump with hose and drip ends. The plants will be started with a 1-1/2” cube of rockwool and vegetated in a 3”-4” slotted pot filled with Hydroton.
The flowering stage will be done in a flood table with the plants transferred to a 8”-10” slotted pot elevated about an inch off the bottom.
My question is how often do I water with each of these set-ups? I’ve seen videos and articles of drip systems that were on timers, and others run 24/7. The flood table seems to be pretty consistent with people watering 3-4 times for 15-20 minutes during the light hours, but what about the dark hours?
My understanding is that rockwool can hold excess water so one needs careful about root rot. Are there any advantages to the flood table, or should I consider making a larger version of the drip pots for the flowering stage?
Thanks
