Grandma and Grandpa grow - gorilla glue #4 under a Spider Farmer SF5000

My wife has taken over the day to day tasks and we're not real good about taking and posting pictures so bare with us. We hope to update at least once every week. We're growing in a 6.5 x 6.5 x 6.5 tent with six unbranded 240w quantum boards and a Spider Farmer SF5000 450w LED light. Yes, it's over-lighted. The sweet part is I don't have to use all of them. With this run, four of the 240w boards will have other genetics under them. The SF5000 will have 2 gorilla glue #4 under it. They will be scrogged. All 8 of these plants are currently in another tent at seedling stage. 7 are up and 1 is lagging lol. It should poke it's head through sometime tomorrow. For this grow diary, we'll focus on the gorilla glue plants under the SF5000.

All plants will end up in 5 gallon air pots. The goal is to go water-only. We will use Roots Organic Terp Teas if the soil appears to be running out of gas. By the time those sprouts make it to their final home, the soil will have been cooking for about a month.

They're still in my seedling tent. I'm beginning to become challenged for room. I've got 2 plants in my flower tent that aren't quite done. I'm hoping to be able to harvest them next weekend so we can swap the seedlings in.

We just harvested the remaining plants in 6.5 x 6.5 flower tent. I've got 7 plants under 930 watts of quantum boards. Right now, I'm using about half of the tent so I will have plenty of room to expand as needed. Each plant currently has an "LST" clip on the main stem. I'm going to bush them out and trim them up for the next week and a half prior to flipping to 12/12 on or about April 8th.

We've been dealing with some magnesium issues. At first, we were using cal-mag but then I started seeing a bit of funk in the leaves. We cut the calcium out and went with epsom salts at about a teaspoon per gallon. We've been showing steady improvement since.

We expanded the grow area this weekend. We're now using a 4' x 6.5' area ... 26 ft sq. We're also running 930 watts of quantum boards currently at 90%. My wife and I also added some extra reds/far reds with the "Go Daddy" strip lights.

Here's a some-what close up of the 2 Gorilla Glue ... Front and right rear.

Because of the battle we were having with magnesium defiency, we're a bit behind on our flower schedule. I ended up tying down the main stem one more time to keep them from getting too tall. Right now, they're between 20" - 24" tall, depending on the plant. If I allowed them to grow straight up, they would be 30" or more. I don't top my plants like so many others do. I think the girls prefer bondage over amputation (what a choice, lol). Light cycle is now at 15/11. I usually will drop it to 12/12 but this run, I'm going to run 13/11 for 3 weeks to a month before finishing at 12/12. We'll hit that 13/11 light cycle by this weekend.

Although my wife and I have had a few challenges with this grow, I think we're pretty close to rounding the corner. It should be easy sailing for a while. This soil is super enriched living soil. I'm hoping that it doesn't run out of gas ... If it does, it will be Tea time using the Roots Organic line.

Noted: So epsom salts is the go to replacement for mag? Interesting and cool. Ive seen it mentioned here and there but didn't know what it was used for.

Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate. What's nice about it is the plant also uses the sulfate. It's a cheap and easy fix. Just don't buy lavender or other scented types.

When I was using the cal-mag, it seemed that the calcium was interfering with the uptake of magnesium and instead of improving, things were getting worse. Leaving the calcium out and giving them the epsom salts seems to have fixed things. Excess calcium also interferes with potassium uptake. Potassium (along with phosphorous) will be in high demand through most of the flowering cycle.

Catching up on things here .. I took some pictures a few days ago. Day 7 of my 13/11 light cycle experiment. I'm hoping running with slightly longer daylight will help increase yields. It's an experiment. We'll see what happens.

Here's all 7 plants. Everyone of them are in various stages of early flower now.

Three of my ladies are Sugar Black Rose - Early edition by Delicious seeds. Early/Fast version strains typically will start flowering shortly after the summer solstice in northern areas. This makes them more ideal for northern growers. I'll be running some "fast" flowering plants this summer in my greenhouse.

My gorilla glues have been a bit tempermental. Over-all healthy but still signs of lingering magnesium issues. It's improved but isn't completely gone yet.

One blueberry cheese is happy, the other is okay but still working to improve it's over-all health and appearance.

Day 17 of flower. Things seem to be coming along nicely so far.

The Sugar Black Rose is beginning to stack up and fill out.

My 2 Gorilla Glues are beginning pick up flowering speed.

My Blueberry Cheese are holding there own. One is healthier than the other. We're still working that one through.

We've also been busy outside in the greenhouse. We put the weed barrier down, dug the holes and placed the 7 gallon pots half filled with potting mix in each of the holes. Last greenhouse run, the plants grew too large. The 7 gallon pots should help us keep this year's crop under control.
