Makes sense especially outdoor they hydroton may dry to fast… could be solved by raising the water line, contrary to belief you can run the waterline uo the net pot. But then the coco plants may suffer. As they grow and more roots in the water this shouldn’t be as pronounced and may completely disappear.I had planned to run hydroton exclusively but I had a hard time finding it in my area and it was crunch time. The girls in coco/pearlite seem to be happy as hell, and have a little better root system so far.
The starter root plugs if any make a difference too. But looks like the coco with perlite is outperforming so far… very interesting brother
