yeah Im not sure how high for a 600 and seedlings - I have always used flouros until they have a few leafsets

but 4 feet seems extreme - they will fall over from reaching for the light

Next time, I'll be running Flouros like you said. I'll have to play with the light level now. I cranked the fan and lowered the lights to about 18"s above. I'll keep a close watch that they aren't too close.

Thanks again for the help, ML.

Querkle and Deep Purple-Day 10

Here are some pics I just snapped. Today is Day 10. Things are looking good. Two days ago they began forming their second leaf sets. I have not started feeding them yet. I may start today or tomorrow.

Had a little gnat problem. I put some sticky cards around the plants and I think it got all of them. I wasnt sure if they were Fungus gnats or not, but after doing some comparisons of pics online and the bugs on my sticky traps, Ive determined them not to be. I also put slices of potatos on the soil to see if they would draw out worms from my soil, but there were none.

The lone set back was my one baby falling over. Ive since adjusted my lighting and everything seems good.

Thanks for stopping in.

Looking pretty good Grim. DON'T feed them you are growing in soil I think you are using Happy Frog in combo with Fox Farm they have everything they need already in there. Based on the size of the pots I see I would say they dont need anything other than water for at least 3-4 more weeks the only exception to this might be a mycorrhizae to increase your soils activity levels enabling better nutrient uptake, However I think Happy Frog already has at least some of the beneficial microbes. Do what you want of course just what I have come to learn about soil growing. Best of luck

Day 17

Dr. Dankz- I actually fed them before I read your post. I figured, we'll just see what happens and Id go back to just water if they couldn't handle the feeding, but surprisingly they've taken the nute regiment like champs. Everyone looks good except the last Deep Purple that sprouted. It's def lagging behind everyone else and it's the only plant that has leaves that look a bit shriveled and not completely healthy. You can see it in the first pic on the right.

Here are pics of the kids today, Day 17. They are showing three leaf sets with the fourth shooting up:

Hey Grim,

I am glad to hear they took well to it. The only warning I would add is when you grow in soil the nutrients usually need to be broken down by the microbes in the soil before the plants get them so really your just building them up until the microbes need them if there is to much for them to handle they start to die which then robs your plant of the things it needs in turn. just something to think about bro.

Thanks for that info. Good to know. So do you recommend that I go back to just water for a bit?

I would keep any feeding very light 1/4 strength at most. But your soil for sure has everything they need for a while yet. Some strains would be fine with a bit of nutrient load in the soil but most would rather be a tad in need than a tad over fed. If it was me I wouldn't feed them for a bit. However everyone has to make his own choice. just my .02

What's up Farmers? Here are pics of day 31 from seed. 5 Querkle 4 Deep Purple.

Things are looking really good. Very lush and bushy plants. Battling some fungus gnats, but getting them under control. Also my brand new 600 watt MH burned out so my hydroshop upgraded me to a Hortilux 1000 watt MH. Took a few days and some heat stress to get the hight right, but were rockin and rolling now.

The toughest part for me so far has been PHing my nutes. It takes me around 30 mins everytime to get my PH correct. There's got to be an easier way.

Anyhow- here are my pics. I'm gonna let these go 60 days veg. Hopefully I'll be seeing some preflowers in the next two weeks or so. Then I'll know who's gonna have to pack their shit and hit the road.
