Grow #4 diary - gg4 x Cinderella man by Trustfall’s Genetics

Tonight’s update:

They’re all doing very well so far. I’m going to be doing some training and trimming tomorrow. I’ll also likely be doing a somewhat short veg cycle - maybe 6 weeks. I’ll go 7 if they aren’t too big, but this tent is much shorter than my other, so I can’t go wild here.

The first method I used worked well, but was a little unstable for my liking. This setup feels much better IMO. I think you’re going to like it regardless of the way you set it up!

How’s the screen anchored the corners? Do you cut out the corners to brace against the poles so you can slide the pots? Great idea. 👍

It’s just resting on the cinder blocks. I did snip about 4” off of it, though, otherwise it was too snug of a fit. I just used tin snips.

Todays update:

Decided to trim and train the plants. Didn’t do much training as the stalks are already quite thick, so I did some of the ancillary branches and topped one of the gg4’s.

With some of the clippings, I decided to try to make some more clones:

2 silver alerts and 1 gg4 x Cinderella man.

I’ll be filling up their buckets at some point today, and other than that, that’s all I’ll be doing.

They’ve already started responding to the training and are moving upward again.

I also transplanted the clones from water to soil:

2 silver alerts and 1 gg4 x cinderella man.

I forgot to add Mykos to one of the silver alerts, so I marked it on the cup to see if there’s any noticeable difference. Might as well write my mistake down for science, otherwise it’s just screwing around 😛

Tonights update:

Growing like weeds still. The training is helping keep the silver alert shorter. Should’ve started it sooner, but I got busy the last week and a half.

The clones seem to be doing alright. One is kind of slouching, but she may pick up over time.

The silver alert clone that’s growing now started off slouching, then she perked up after a few days, so we’ll see how these do.

These clips don’t attach to the poles (though, you might be able to macguyver something up if you wanted, maybe?)

I was going to get you the link to them, but it seems they aren’t on Amazon anymore - at least my order shows that page doesn’t exist.

They’re 90 degree bends, so similar to those yellow ones you linked, but more bend. I’ll snap some close ups this evening for ya

Did training and trimming on the left 2 plants, debating on doing the right 2 tonight or waiting until tomorrow.

The silver alert (the tall one on the left) I started training the top to grow sideways:

I got 2 bends in her so far, so we’ll see if I can make a full loop.

I’m pretty sure I mentioned this already, but the clips I’m using can’t be attached to a pole. The hole you see isn’t very big. You can’t even fit a pencil through it.

You might be able to with a trellis, but I would think by the time you net, you wouldn’t need to attach them. At least I’ve never found a reason to, anyway.

Wifey wants me to start the seeds/plants for outside. I think these would be great for tomatoes and such. Just never seen them before.

The hole you see isn’t very big.

could you tie some string to the hole in the clip and then use the string to pull and tie the branches down to something?

ETA: nevermind I see the "holes" are open anyway.

Nightly update:

I trimmed the bottom right plants tonight. One of them was fairly smaller than the other, which I figure is due to the light, so I swapped their positions for now. They’re growing good still, about 4 - 5 weeks into veg.

I topped the 2 I trimmed tonight as well as did some other stress training with the clips.

I’ll probably let them go for another week or so, then flip to flower schedule since this tent is both shorter and smaller, so I don’t want to run out of space.

The clones:

2 were hunched over, but one straightened right up, and the other is less hunched than previously.

I’ll prob put them with my indoor veggies until my 4x4 tent is freed up, as I do have a cheap light on a timer so they’ll keep their 12+ hour light schedule.

Looking good. Wouldn’t worry about the leaning clones. Some use bread ties to pull them up. Others stick something under to keep it off the ground and start LST. 🤷‍♂️

Not much has changed - they’re just growing like they do.

The clones seem to be doing okay. The one in the back flip flops on which side she’s slumping over 😅 I think all 3 will make it, so that makes me happy.
