Week17: 12/12/20-12/18/20

Day113- nothing to note on the NL. The WW was ready for a feeding though. I mixed 1tsp calmag, 2tsp micro and 2 1/2tsp gro into 1gal water ph'd to 6.43 with a 5% runoff. Temp 78°F, RH 44%

Day114- no change to the NL. did some LST and some leaf tucking on the WW. Temp 77°F, RH 43%

Day115- no major changes to either plant just did some LST on the WW. Temp 76°F, RH 44%

Day116- NL is still not ready for more water but close. The WW just did some leaf tucking. Temp 75°F, RH 43%

Day117- gave the NL its second flush. I gave her 1 1/2gal plain water ph'd to 6.4 with about a 30-40% runoff. Did some more leaf tucking on the WW. Temp 73°F, RH 43%

Day118- nothing done with the NL, the WW was ready for a watering I mixed 1 1/2tsp calmag mixed into 1 1/2gal water ph'd to 6.43. Temp 71°F, RH 43%

Day119- the fan leaves are slowly starting to yellow from the flushing but still no where near enough ready to harvest yet, could possibly be an xmas harvest but not sure, time will tell. Just did a little LST on the WW today. Going to keep an eye on the closet temps. Now our cold season is here and it's down in the teens at night. So far temps have still been fine with highs between 73-75°F and the lows between 67-69°F. The lowest temps in the closet only last about 4hrs as it takes a little bit to cool down after the lights go out and after a few hours of the lights being back on the temps have rose again. It helps that my light schedule has lights on at night and lights off during the day. If it does end up getting much cooler in the closet I may climb into the attic and run another line of duct work directly into the closet to help offset the temp change by it being regulated from the rest of the houses' heat and air. Temp 73°F, RH 44%

---sorry for a delay in the weekly updates, due to the holidays and work I had time to jot down my daily notes but no time to transfer them here. So I'll be posting the last 3 weeks back to back now to catch up lol.---

Week18: 12/19/20-12/25/20

Day120-no changes to either plant, did some tucking on the WW. temp 72°F, RH 43%

Day121- fan leaves continuing to yellow, one more flush should do it for the NL. Temp 73°F, RH 41%

Day122- gave the NL another flush today. Gave her 2 plain gallons of water ph'd to 6.44, did some defoliating on the WW. Temp 73°F, RH 41%

Day123- both plants responding to yesterday's flushing/defoliating well. Temp 71°F, RH 44%

Day124- the WW was thirsty and got a feeding today. I mixed 1tsp calmag, 2tsp micro and 2 1/2tsp gro into 1gal water ph'd to 6.52 with a 5% runoff. Temp 72°F, RH 44%

Day125- nothing major to report. Temp 74°F, RH 45%

Day126- Merry Christmas! I harvested the NL after the festivities. I feel like she was ready, all trichomes were cloudy with about 15-20% turned amber, she had pretty much used up all the nutrients she had left. She is now hanging up to dry. I did not cut and hang the plant as a whole but branch by branch instead. The flower time was almost twice the time that the seed company estimated at 49 days turned out to be 78 days in total. Total grow time for the NL from seed to harvest was 126 days...for an auto flower that seems reeeaaaaally high. Idk if that is grower error as this is my first grow but I dont really think so if you go back thru and read my journal I dont really see any major catastrophes nor mistakes, possibly environment or genetics could also be a cause. Maybe all 3 not sure.Temp 73°F, RH 43%

Quite the extensive note taking, I could use that skill. Maybe I should take notes...ah I'll get to it later!

Nice work haha. Keep it up!

Lol yesss yes it has. I have found that many of the days there wasnt really much to to take note of but I've come this far so will see this grow journal thru to the end as I have this grow. But my next grow I believe I will do more of a weekly summary except for the major days that things were actually done like feeding, topping etc lol.

Week19: 12/26/20-01/01/21

Day127- did some defoliating on the WW. Temp 72°F, RH 43%

Day128- continued with some LST on the WW today. Temp 73°F, RH 41%

Day129- the WW was thirsty, she got 1tsp calmag mixed into 1gal water ph'd to 6.48 with a 5% runoff. The NL after 3 days was ready to be trimmed and put into jars for curing. This was much faster than I wanted, was shooting for 7-10 days but the closet I hung the harvest in was evidently higher in temp than I wanted for a longer dry. She was branch snap dry. I put a hygrometer in each jar and the RH was only 41-46%. I added a boveda #4 62% RH pack into each jar. For half of my first grow I'm still quite happy with the results. My first plant yielded 53g dry with 7.5g of trim. The WW I believe will produce much more though when she is ready to harvest. Temp 72°F, RH 41%

Day130- now the the WW has the whole grow space she is spreading out fast, did some super cropping to 4 branches that shot up about 6" taller than the rest of the plant to even the canopy. The boveda packs really do work. Today the jars are all at 61-62% RH. Due to the fast dry time I believe, the NL does at this point have a strong hay like smell to it. This SHOULD subside as the buds cure and release the chlorophyll. Temp 74°F, RH 45%

Day131- so far I dont see any negative effects from the supercropping I gave the WW yesterday. Temp 73°F, RH 44%

Day132- nothing major to note today. Temp 73°F, RH 42%

Day133- the WW was ready for a feeding. I started the transition in nutes from veg to flower today. I mixed 1tsp calmag, 2tsp micro, 2tsp gro(down from 2 1/2tsp), and added 1/2tsp bloom into 1gal water ph'd to 6.43 with a 5% runoff. Temp 72°F, RH 42%

Week20: 01/02/21-01/08/21

Day134- did some LST on the WW today and pruned a few higher fan leaves blocking the light. Temp 71°F, RH 42%

Day135- nothing major to note, just continuing her training. Ive been burping the jars of NL 3 times per day and as time goes on the hay like smell is going away rather quickly now and starting to smell really nice again.Temp 73°F, RH 42%

Day136- really want to maximize every inch of the grow space so I ordered 2 trellis nets to spread her out, one to put on right away and the 2and to put on after the switch to flower and she's done her stretching to help support the branches when the colas start gaining weight. Also ordered another 6" fan to clip onto a wall mount for more air circulation so that I can take out the oscillating fan which takes up a square foot out of the 4 square feet I have to work with giving full potential for growth. Temp 71°F, RH 42%

Day137- the WW was thirsty so she got a watering today. I mixed 1tsp calmag into 1gal water ph'd to 6.46 with a 5% runoff. Temp 73°F, RH 42%

Day138- did some defoliating of the upper fan leaves to let more light thru the canopy. Temp 71°F, RH 43%

Day139- Nothing new to report, the WW is doing fine. Temp 73°F, RH 41%

Day 140- the trellis netting came in today as did the new fan, will be installing tomorrow. Nothing done to the WW today. The hay smell is somewhat still there but the buds are smelling very good now. Somewhat earthy, but more on the skunky side with a pretty strong lemony smell to it. Temp 73°F, RH 38%

Week21: 01/09/21-01/15/21

Day141- did some more defoliating/lolipopping to the WW today. Also removed the oscillating fan and setup the scrog net. I mounted a wall block to the front of the grow closet for the new 6" fan as well. Now there is a 6" fan in the front blowing towards the back of the closet and one in the back blowing to the front to really circulate the air and with the grow area only being 2'x2' I believe this should be more than sufficient. Also gave her a feeding today. Still transitioning the nutes from veg to bloom. I mixed 1tsp calmag, 2tsp micro, 1 1/2tsp gro (reduced from 2tsp), and 1tsp bloom (increased from 1/2tsp into 1gal water ph'd to 6.37. I have also officially switched the timer from 18/6 to 12/12 so when the light goes off in the morning it will be the first day of initiated flower. Temp 71°F, RH 35%

Day142- today mark's the 1st day of the light cycle switch from 18/6 to 12/12. Not doing anything with the plant for now, letting her adjust to being scrounged and dont want to over stress her. May perhaps do some defoliating at the end of the week. Temp 70 °F, RH 39%

Day143- nothing of note today. Just did some leaf tucking. Temp 71°F, RH 39%

Day144- tucked and moved some branches in the netting as it stretches out. Temp 71°F, RH 40%

Day145- the WW has pretty much maxed out grow space potential and looking good. I have not seen any new signs of nute burn from awhile back so I think I corrected the problem. Temp 73°F, RH 39%

Day146- she was ready to be watered today. I mixed 1tsp calmag into 1gal water ph'd to 6.53 with still around a 5% runoff. After this watering I will probably cut out the calmag for the rest of the grow unless needed, want to drop off the small amount of nitrogen that is in it. Her water needs seem to have slightly decreased since I scrogged her and switched to 12/12, maybe because the lights are off longer so the temps are cooler for a longer period of times, or perhaps she has kinda slowed down momentarily while transitioning into flower, maybe because of both not sure. Will watch to see if it picks back up again. Temp 71°F, RH 38%

Day147- nothing major to note with plant today, she has responded really well to being scrogged. Internode spacing is nice and tight at 1/2"-1" max. Will probably do some more leaf stripping but not sure how much yet. I dont want to over stress her but know I need to do some defoliating, maybe 15-20% tomorrow. Temp 68°F, RH 40%

Week22: 01/16/21-01/22/21

Day148- did some major defoliating today, I'd say more than a normal defoliation but not quite as much as schwazzing. Took off a bunch of fan leaves above the screen to open up the canopy more and let some light into the lower areas and also to improve air flow. Also removed the foliage below the screen seeing as they wont get enough light and take away from bud production on the healthy upper areas of the branches. Temp 73°F, RH 41%

Day149- I noticed today that the WW has started her pre-flower. She is starting to produce small clusters of pistils all over. Temp 76°F, RH 44%

Day150- she was ready for a feeding today. Continued the transition of nutes from veg to flower and also cut out the calmag. I mixed 2tsp micro, 1tsp gro (down from 1 1/2tsp) and 1 1/2tsp bloom (up from 1tsp) into 1gal water ph'd to 6.38 still with about a 5% runoff. Temp 71°F, RH 39%

Day151- no major changes in plant, tucked a few branches into the next screen area over. Temp 72°F, RH 43%

Day152- nothing done to the WW today, seems to be responding well to the tuck yesterday. Temp 76°F, RH 46%

Day153- pruned a few large upper fan leaves that were blocking light to lower canopy no matter which way I tucked them. Temp 77°F, RH 46%

Day154- she was thirsty today so I gave her 1gal plain water ph'd to 6.48 with a 5% runoff. The NL has cured nicely, the hay smell is now gone replaced with a nice earthy yet lemony smell/flavor. The lemony flavor is so much so that after smoking one feels almost a cooling sensation in the back of the throat like you just ate a breath mint. Wonder if others who have grown this have had the same experience...Temp 74°F, RH 43%

Week23: 01/23/21-01/29/21

Day155- nothing noteworthy today, she is doing just fine. Temp 73°F, RH 43%

Day156- the WW is now 1 week into flower. she has definitely responded well the the heavy defoliating, pistils are shooting out from the the bud sites. Temp 74°F, RH 42%

Day157- fan leaves are growing back in everywhere, will monitor to see if shell need another defoliating within the next week or so. Temp 71°F, RH 39%

Day158- just did a little leaf tucking today. Temp 72°F, RH 39%

Day159- the WW was ready for a feeding, I gave her 2tsp micro, 1/2tsp gro (down from 1tsp), and 1 1/2tsp bloom mixed into 1gal water ph'd to 6.43 with a 5% runoff. Temp 73°F, RH 38%

Day160- she is looking very healthy, pistils are everywhere now. Temp 71°F, RH 43%

Day161- did nothing more than some leaf tucking today. Temp 74°F, RH 42%

FINAL UPDATE FOR FIRST GROW!!

ok so it took awhile to be able to do the final update on this sorry, life has been crazy. The last 2 months of my first grow I wasnt even able to be home, I was out of state for work so I had to talk my wife through it all every night so the tedious note taking and pics needless to say went out the window lol. I had to facetime with her to measure out nutes and watering, and even coaching her thru each and every leaf to remove from the plant when defoliating. It was... a process lol. But things were going good until she too had to go out of town for some family stuff. That was 9 weeks into bloom. I had her give the WW a massive watering before she left, but from that last watering she gave it till I got home finally was 10 DAYS with nooo water! Needless to say she had basically started drying while still in the dirt. I couldnt bring her back up again as the fan leaves were crispy so I just harvested her, hung her for 5 days then trimmed and cured for over 6 weeks now. Surprisingly the buds were quite resilient! They themselves did not over dry at all and with the boveda packs the rh stays at 62%. I have found personally though I like my buds a little drier than that so next time I'll probably try a lower rh% pack. The WW is actually very potent and smells delicious! One bowl and I'm toasty😎. Despite the hiccups one can expect with their first grow I feel it actually went very very well, and most of all I had fun and enjoyed every moment of it! I will be sterilizing the closet before starting my next grow (pineapple express). The WW end result could have been better but still happy with results with a much higher yield than the NL gave me, albeit since she went so long without water plus other factors I dont even realize there was quite a bit of larf BUT I still got 106g dry, and 48g of larf/trim from the WW so not too shabby! The NL I got 53g dry and 7.5g larf/trim. Total together: 159g dry buds and 55.5g larf/trim. All of this from my first grow in a 2'x2' closet with a blurple led! (May upgrade to a spider farm 1000 in the near future as I found out it will also fit my closet) Now my question is this. Both plants were grown together but since the NL was an auto and the WW a photo they were harvested over 3 months apart. SOOO when figuring out how much flower per watt I got should I total them together or separate? The ACTUAL wattage is 213. Not counting larf at all for flower vs wattage here, or should i? With no larf both plants together that would mean I got .74g dry bud per watt which I think is good? If seperate then maybe not so much. Seperate it would be .24g and .50g respectively. Thoughts? Here are the few sad pics I took when i got home, though the trichomes look beautiful lol Thanks again to everyone who has followed my journey and given advice when asked. I truly love our community here!

If that truly was your first grow you got very lucky and/or you did a lot of research before hand. I will say you got pretty lucky placing your sprouted seeds directly into Fox Farms Ocean forest soil, that stuff tends to be a bit hot for a baby sprout. The plants look great, very impressive for a first grow!

Yep this was my first grow, but I did about a year of research, i.e. reading articles, books, and forums, plus alot of videos online before I actually took the jump and started growing. Yes I did get lucky with the FFOF lol, this next time I'm playing it safer and I'm going to do a 3 part blend, going to start them in happy frog, then let them grow through that into a 50/50 blend of happy frog/FFOF, and as they grow through that the roots will branch into an outer layer of just FFOF. And thanks! There were some stumbles of course but in the end i was a happy papa lol
