Can you harvest the upper portion of a plant to give the lower section more time and light?

Yes. In fact, I usually do 2 cuttings. Plants don't mature evenly from top to bottom and by harvesting buds only when they are done, you'll get the best of what your plant has to offer. It's not unusual for a week to 10 days between cuttings. I'll lollipop under the canopy before flowering too so when I harvest, all buds are both dense and dank. Almost zero larf this way.
