No promises here - but one thing I haven’t seen mentioned- light , I’ve had them get crispy like that because photosynthesis was still taking place making new growth instead of roots then the new growth was shocked when I transplanted and hit to hard with led light
But again no expert cloner for sure

It's more than likely just humidity issues. Not burping the domes, leaving stagnant condensation on the lids instead of wiping or rinsing them regularly

Yeah but he keeps getting same results. I’m sure he has monitored the stagnant humidity. I’m getting over SM and find my self obsessed with any problem now. Curious to find an answer to this.

Yeah I've seen a particular disease with similar tbh too but I had this exact same thing I see here with a tray I forgot to take domes off and bever seen again. It would be on the mother's if on the cuts toy would think really though 🤷‍♂️

Right now I am tempted to think it's Pythium but then again there would have to be so many more people who would post it online since people with Pythium and motherplants isn't that much of a rarity I guess. But there's only a hand full of threads in the internet where people show these symptomes....

Or it might be connected to fungus gnats which I have always had in my room as this member here also mentioned....

Athena ipm root drench worked great for knats for me. Wettable sulphur is such an underrated but great ipm also

My mothers have no symptoms. I have never heard that mothers have such symptoms. Only the clones. The first clones always show the signs at Day 5 in the dome.

I will go with a product that contains Bacillus thuringiensis var. israelensis. It works quiet well. But I have always looked at fungus gnats as a "no problem really" that most growers have all the time....

They can be a real problem with hlvd mate now as leaf hoppers are suspected as being a major spreader.
If only happening day 5 then I would say has to be humidity. When do you open vents and do you spray domes or the cuts?
I stopped the issue by only ever spraying the dome lids rather than the cuts, lifting lids daily, which you already say you do.
My main issue I believe though was over spraying the cuts themselves tbh

Not an expert or anything, but is it possible the rooting gel is contaminated? Could explain why its only clones. Perhaps something got in the gel or hitched a ride with a cutting?

I'm thankful for any ideas....even speculation could lead to a solution.....The rooting gel I don't think because I never dip in the original clonex container....I always pour an amount in another container....

Is it possible that Pythium gets "flushed out" to a good degree for a short period if a serious flush is executed? Because 3 runs ago when I was cutting clones I did a very thorough flush more with the aim to reduce the salt content of the medium assuming that the high salt content is the problem....Those clones didn't have it at all....

I have found an article that highlights a connection between high nutrient levels (in the media) and thrive of pythium: "Excess levels of some nutrients have enhanced Pythium root rot on geranium seedlings. Plant death increased as nitrogen or phosphorous increased. Further research showed that use of high fertilizer levels actually resulted in higher losses of geranium cultivars previously identified as resistant to the disease. Fertilizers should be supplied according to plant requirements for adequate growth."

This is quite a thread bump, but since the topic was never really met with a conclusion, I wanted to bump it up with my own issues and see if anyone in this thread ever got answers.

I've been seeing similar issues, and like someone said, it tends to appear after 5 days.

I have some strains that are definitely prone to it, and then others that seem to catch it while rooting.

I believe it's fusarium on my side, but not 100% still. I noticed mine have purple areas near the petioles, but they do the same dark leave issue. If left, the clone will sometimes collapse too. Makes me think there may be several diseases causing similar symptoms in this thread.

My mothers show no visual problems, only noticeable when rooting.

It becomes aggravated with high humidity, and it is a trigger, but even happens without spraying the dome and giving it lots of air.

Some strains are black leaf strains "High in Anthocyanin", what strain? this purple pigment normally appears later, but can show on clones as they are the age of the mother. I have grown several black strains over the years, and have seen the Anthocyanin (purple pigment) appear in the clones...

*If you have root issues then its probably connected, root issues will cause a lot of different leaf malformations?
