Help First Time Grower. Seedling Tips Browning.

Hi there. My 8 day old seedlings are starting to brown on the tips. They are in promix hp 5 gallon pots. Not a heat issue. I have not added nutes yet. Could it be chlorine in tap water? I did not let the water sit before giving it to the plants. ph was lowered with lemon juice to about 6.

What’s the waters starting ph? Why did you lower it?

It was about 7.5. I was under the impression that might be too high.

Usually the soil does a decent job of regulating ph on its own. You might be fine with your tap water how it is. Once you add nutrients it will probably drop on its own.

I use distilled water at a neutral 7 (with added CalMag) and by the time nutes are added I’m usually in the 6-6.6 range. Rainwater also works great and is free.

Thanks for the advice. Should I be adding calman this early in the game? Could that be the browning issue?
