I use rubbing alcohol sometimes; leaves no bleach residue. I buy 91% and mix it about 50/50 with water and use a cleaning brush. Kills any fungus, algae, bug eggs...

physan20; add some to the system; let it run; put some in a bucket; wear gloves; scrub ur lids and netpots; i replace airstones every run... drain the system and refill with normal water and ur good to go; don't even need to break it down

physan20 like stated, you can use bleach, bleach does not leave a residue, but its doesnt seems to break away the gunk like the physan 20 does, you really have to drain and rinse and drain and rinse the physan out of the system thou

when i am cleaning my system i use a wetvac to get the last bits of water out the bucket bottoms; a wetvac and a sponge will make washing out excess physan a breeze; also if u use physan20 u KNOW that your system is sterile; that plus zone and you're golden in rdwc

35% H202 can not be shipped by normal mail methods that's why a lot of stores only have 27% which can be shipped. i use to get the 35% but then there was some issues for my local store obtaining it and this was the explanation.

I have experience in shipping. It sounds too me like 35% is classified as hazmat (hazardous materials), and that's why few retailers would carry it. Their delivery trucks and drivers aren't certified to carry hazmat. So you should be able to order it delivered too you, because those shippers know it is hazmat and have a channel setup to make the deliveries with trucks and drivers that are allowed to carry it. You can also probably find it at local industrial suppliers, who have no problem with getting hazmat shipped too them.

Is that percentage really nessesary?
Wouldent you dilute it with water anyhow?
Would the store version not work the same with a few bottles at 99 cents?

Basically I have used the store version to sterilize and I thought it turned out fine. I wasn't testing the surfaces for mold or anything so I have no clue how or what it did but no funk after. Please enlighten me on this. Thanks.

Oh wait is it possibly because the high volume of water involved with rdwc that you would want to go to a 35%? I could understand that since I was working with 40-50 gallons running through my rdwc system at the time.. Wait thats completely filled to the brim though. Guessing thats where you would want the water level to be anyhow right? Speaking to myself helps

It shouldn't take much to get it clean. Bleach, h2o2 (which you only need 3% from the store @ 1 cup per 5 gallons. Physan20 is great and so is all the hydro cleaning products.

I would use a good antibacterial soap or h2o2. Both offer easy solutions to sanitize and both do it for fractions of what the others cost. h2o2 will break down into water and antibacterial soap, which tends to be a degreaser as well, will be very gentle, easy to use, and will work to get most of your stuff off.

Unless you have bacteria issues then replacing air stones every time is a little too much. Basically everything should be able to be sterilized with ease. The EZ-cloner machine recommends bleach for 30 minutes (1 cup per 5 gallons) then 2 runs with plain water. Works like a champ!
