Hi,

I bought this nutrient: Green House short flowering for my gorilla cookies auto seeds. After I bought it, I realised cannabis growing is much more complicated than I thought. So I would really apreciate advice of experience growers on how to use these nutrients.

Here are the instructions: https://shop.greenhousefeeding.com/downloads/GHF_M+B_2019_UK-AU.pdf

The recommended feeding is for distilled water. What would I need to do if I used tap or filtered water? Would it be enough to add the amount of nutrients they recommend, measure pH and add pH up or down to achieve the desired pH? How would I achieve the corect EC? If I would use distilled water, I would need to add calcium and still adjust the pH, since calcium affects it, if I understand correctly?

I currently don´t have any meters or any other nutrients or liquids, so I am wondering how essential are these things really? Is it likely that my plant will die if I don´t do this or will I just have a smaller yield? I only want to grow one plant in a pot in my appartment, so I want to do it as simple as it is possible.

Another thing that adds to my confusion is that people often recommend to use much less of the nutrients than the companies recommend. But I am not sure if and to what extent this is true for this specific powder.

I appreciate your help!

here the officials links you want to have a look:

general informations about the mineral line you use:

schedule if you're growing in soil:

schedule if you're growing in coco:

schedule if you're growing in rockwool:

if you're growing in hydro: coco or rockwool adjusting solution pH to 5,8 - 6,2 is a must as well as checking run off ph and ec

if you're growing in soil ph should buffer itself, but it's still a good idea to check run off ec with mineral nutrient readily available for the plants unlike organic nutrient which need to be processed by soil bacteria, you're more at risk of salt built up with mineral nutrients.

depending ec of you're tap water, or if using distilled water and if you'r in soil or hydro you may or may not need the calcium bag.
( don't use liquid cal mag from another brand it react badly with greenhouse powder mineral line)

booster pk bag is also recommended for late flower

also depending if your in soil, enriched soil or hydro you may need the grow bag for first week of veg.

Thanks, that was very helpful.
It seems that switching to soil might be easier for a beginner as long as I make sure I don´t overwater. But I had a follow up question regarding that. I know that with coco coir you are supposed to water every day and achieve around 20 percent run-off. With soil I need to wait until the soil dries out a bit, but do I still water enough to get run-off every time? Does that differ between feeding and watering days? I read somewhere that If you use synthetic nutrients, they can build up so it is good to flush the plant with low ppm water every once in a while. Does that mean using tap water or can that already be too high and distilled water would be neccessary if your tap water is "hard"? I am also not sure if my feeding powder consists of synthetic nutrients?

yeah once the plant are big enough you usually water until a very little run off then let dry for a few days until watering again.

getting used to the weight of the pots before and after watering is a good thing or waiting for the leaves to drop noticeably at least once once the plant is big enough related to pot size to set your watering frequency.

you usually feed each watering

I read somewhere that If you use synthetic nutrients, they can build up so it is good to flush the plant with low ppm water every once in a while.

they are not synthetic but they are mineral nutrients as opposed to organic nutrients, mineral and synthetic nutrient are readlily available for the plant in their final form while organic nutrients need to be processed by soil bacteria to be available in their final form.

so yes you're more at risk of salt built up with synthetic or mineral nutrients than with organic nutrients

you can't flush at random, you'll either need to check run off ec on a regular basis to prevent salt built up either cross fingers and hope for best that everythings goes well.

Does that mean using tap water or can that already be too high and distilled water would be neccessary if your tap water is "hard"? I am also not sure if my feeding powder consists of synthetic nutrients?
well tap water ec is rarely that high as compared to distilled water that it need that big adjustement
but along side with the soil it can have enough calcium that you don't need to add some more, other bags from greenhouse for veg and flo all have some magnesium.

the company recommends to alternate between feeding and watering days when growing in soil.

i m not seeing that anywhere on there website, any links ?
"Green House Feeding will work perfectly in soil. When growing in soil, we recommend feeding the plants only every other watering (water – nutrient solution – water – nutrient solution) to avoid salt build up in the medium. We also recommend flushing the medium 2-3 times with pH-balanced water during the whole cycle depending on the flowering time."

It is the link you sent: https://shop.greenhousefeeding.com/us/faq-en.html

I just realised this page answers alot on the questions I had 😅

yeah it's usually advised to water with lower amount of nutrients each watering than alternating feeding/plain water ... until you use an ec meter for checking solution and run off ec you'll never know exactly what you're doing with mineral nutrients.
