My wife and I both have degenerative arthritis. She also suffers from fibromyalgia and bad restless legs related to an iron absorption issue. I have ulcerative colitis. We have our go-to strains but at times needs to switch things up. Chronic pain can also come with occasion anxiety when pain gets bad. We find that slurricane gives us the most broad relief. It can be sedating so a strain called Slurty3 gives it a nice uplift for daytime use. For pain though nothing beats mandarin sunset for us.
My best advice is learn about
terpenes. Especially if you are growing primarily for medical use. Where there is pain, there is inflammation. Just how the body works. There are a few anti-inflammatory
terpenes. Beta Caryophillene is one of the most abundant
terpenes in cannabis. It's the peppery part of black pepper. It's a great anti-inflammatory. It's also in herbs like basil and mint. It's the trrpenes that with provide the therapeutic benefits in your smoke and your food. I also use that knowledge to incorporate into your cooking. Grow or buy fresh herbs or at least fill your spice rack like it was your medicine cabinet.
Personally I grow for terps first.
