Hi. Newbie Scott Trying To Grow Pot

Hello everyone. I have no specific questions regarding my first grow attempt, but was wondering if anyone wanted to offer observations or constructive criticism? I have 4 plants total. June 1st was their first day outside all night, and the first day in the ground for one of my plants. These are Durban Poison strain.

I don't know whether it was a good idea, but from seedlings to today, I've used almost nothing but AI for instruction. That was fine in the beginning as everything was on a very precise schedule with light and watering, but Ohio just had a horrible May with cold temps and little sun, so I was not able to get the requirements the AI was suggesting. It suggested my plants have improved from two weeks ago, and visibly that does appear to be the case.

The PH is around 6.2 in the ground plant. The PH in the 3 potted is around 7 or slightly higher.

I guess I'm mostly curious about PH, nutrient schedule and watering.

Fellow Ohioan here also. It’s been a terrible spring. The only thing I would do if it was mine is take out some of those bottom branches. Give it a little ground clearance. I’m an indoor grower so take that with a grain of salt. It’ll give you a little more energy up top and some air movement on the bottom. Looks like a bad season for mold and anything to make things tougher on stuff that crawls is always good. It looks great though.

Thanks. I'm bound to have a question or two. We've put one of ours into the ground to learn something from it. If I understand correctly, the yield will be quite a bit more than the pots.

Makes sense. Thanks for the tip. I've been trying to learn all I can about pests. For now, I have crop defender if I need it I guess.

IMO? Keep doing what you and AI are doing.........

You're in soil so pH isn't as important to keep an eye on. As long as you're checking you want your pH to hover from 6.3 to 7.0

What are you doing currently for nutrition? Just water? Top Dressing powdered ferts?

For your potted plants you can use the light pot method to determine when it is time to water. Your plant in the ground can roughly follow the same schedule but I would add a day or two before I watered again as the in ground plant probably has more water sources available to it.

Ok, trying to keep it in that range.

I've been using my PH adjusted well water, and giving them Fox Farm nutrient mix.

I think I know what you're saying about the light pot method, as I wasn't doing that and perhaps watering too much up to a point. Then I read that my particular strain likes to dry out and then receive a heavy watering, so that's where I'm at now, especially with them being outside full-time.

Sorry for delay. Thanks for asking. The reason I said that is because the two potted plants really seemed to take a downturn during really humid and rainy weather. I did my best to figure out what was going on and it seemed to be a magnesium deficiency. They both look better today, but not sure if they're in a good place or not to be honest. I think my two in ground plants are doing well except for pests which I'm trying to deal with.

I wouldn't honestly know if they're pre-flowering. Here is a couple pics. I know they don't look great, but the yellowing has stopped and lots of new green growth. Bad leaves have been falling on their own.

Best of luck with it. I'm using Durban Poison strain and I germinated my seeds late March.
