I just read the permit for the cup's location has been revoked and it won't be at the Radion. Not official news but the location has been removed from the site so... New location should be announced shortly.

A local news station in Amsterdam said today the HTCC was cancelled, BUT a few ours later, they updated the article that it is still on. A new location has been found and will be shared later. HTCC also twittered that it's still on and asked to spread the news so here it is. :)

Pre-registration is at the coffeeshop Amnesia.

That's just nuts... I've been saying it for a while, it's game over for the Netherlands. The end of an era. And it's only going to get worse.

The seminars are still on, the party in the melkweg is still on, the cup (voting) is still on, but the expo itself is not.

heard they are unorganized but this takes the cake ...
I read something about them being late getting that permit already, but have to say their "excuses" sound at least partly legit. The main reason for the new anti-cannabis direction of the leading parties is to destroy the dutch reputation of being a major cannabis producer.

France called us a narco state in a UN council when we wanted to fully legalize late last century.

Mayor of London recently called Amsterdam a sleazy town very recently. He said that the bad environment is due to the tolerant drug policy.

Our own prime minister a couple of years ago said he wouldn't be able to explain it to Berlin if we'd legalize.

The MoJ frequently brings up UN and EU treaties to justify his actions (new anti-cannabis laws, raiding more growers than ever).

NL depends largely on export, cleaning up the reputation of Amsterdam is part of an ongoing strategy . They want more large global companies to establish major offices in Amsterdam, and no longer be associated primarily with "weed". They don't want to be all over the news globally like Uruguay, Colorado and Washington linking NL to cannabis even more.

Needless to say killing the cup helps them to achieve their goals.

That said, HT could have seen this coming too, which should have been more reason to get that permit in order long ago.

That's a reaal shame. Amsterdam has been on this road for awhile now. Sucks for the people who have to fly out/take time out of their schedule to relax. but really who the hell wants 11% weed anyways?? Amsterdam is going the way of the Dodo.
