Hi all.
I don’t have a separate tent for drying so I’m drying in my 2by2. It’s set up in my basement and the RH is around 61 and temps around 70. I’m having trouble keeping RH down inside the tent, sits around 68 with the temps at 70.
I’m thinking of getting an air conditioner to bring it down.
At the moment I have a small dehumidifier set up outside the tent and a small dehumidifier (one that doesn’t use power). The room (basement) is 3by8 meters.
Long story short.. should I just get the (large) air conditioner perhaps with a build in dehumidifier

Dehumidifiers are rated at pints per hour. The larger the number the more heat they put out. If you are higher in temp that you want to be now you will increase the heat load by running a dehumidifier. The larger 50 pint units do create heat and I was unable to to put the 50 pint in my lung room. I have a 32 pint In the room and a 50 for the rest of the basement that I pull into the room with a register fan through the wall on a humidity trigger.
There are formulas that can be used to see how much humidity and heat you have as a load and how much you will need to reduce or increase based on your needs.
The ac/dehumidifier will give you more flexibility as it seems you need the heat control also.

I’ll get the air conditioner and vent it out the window….

At some point in flower you will want 75 at 47% and 65 at 44 % or lower. The denser the buds the lower you need humidity.

You're wanting this for drying, is that right?

I never dried at 60/60 and it hasn't been a problem. You can expect the humidity in the drying tent to run higher than the ambient humidity. The buds raise the humidity. That's to be expected. It'll decrease as the buds dry. 70F and 60% will dry sooner, but it won't ruin your crop. At least, not "hitting the sweet spot" has not been a problem for us. We also use a 2x2 tent for drying, by the way.

That’s good to hear.. I went out an got the air conditioner as I was afraid of the high temps. It’s been raining a lot here lately and I was also worried about humidity.
After installing the air conditioning I’m now at 64/62 probably the best I can do.

60 60 is ideal but you dont have to have it if you cant manage it.what you really do need is a lot of air movement inside when its drying

What's the science on that.

Same people parroting the "terpene preservation" bullshit, and claiming it's chlorophyll not hexanal causing the hay smell.

Every single one of you said 70-70 when that was the bullshit being spread 5 years ago lol

60 60 is because at 60 mold is hybernating and 60 is dry enough to not grow on it later when its stored.
