Hey guys,
Has anyone made a home made kief tumbler?

I bought a 125 micron screen 12 X 12 and a rotisserie motor but does anyone else have any advice. My brother is a carpenter and says he knows how to make it just needed the motor and the screen

12x12 won't be big enough i dont think by the time you wrap in into a cylinder with an overlap it'll only be like 3" around

That's what I was thinking.... just gonna look like a thicker paper towel tube.

Looks like a panoply of tumbler designs available on line.

I recommend 150 micron for the first tumble. Some of the gland reach 130 micron.

I like stainless mesh for tumbling, because it tolerates tumbling with less wear than polyester silk mat, but here are my sources for wire cloth and silk mat in larger sizes:

I mean, how much are you tumbling? You gotta realize a 12 x 12 is going to be 12" long with a 3.82" diameter once you put it into a circle. So with overlap you're looking at closer to 3" diameter.

How would we know... you still haven't said how much you plan on putting in there... still pretty small imo.

This worked pretty good, 15" dia. drum. Rotisserie can't handle more than about 2-1/2 lbs. bearings get wiped out. I put the kief in my extractor... best oil...

The length required to wrap the drum is the diameter of the drum X 3.14159. 24/3.14159 = 7.6" diameter drum.

7.6" is probably close to the right size for a rotisserie motor rpm. The larger the diameter, the faster the outer rim is moving.

You also need stays or an irregular shape to insure that the material is carried up the basket wall and tumbled, rather than just sitting on the bottom and sliding as the drum moves under it.
