Why do I ask? I see some seed corps stating their seed for strain ______ (fill it in) takes 8-9 weeks of flowering. A few might stretch that to 10 weeks. However, in my beginner experience, it seems like a full flower grow should take more like 12 weeks.
What I think I see at 8-9 weeks are nice white trichomes, but I don't see them fading to amber at all. I don't see how to harvest that early unless you're sacrificing the end product. Here's my guess: growers like to rush it and harvest early. I will even bet that dispensary grows are harvested early to keep the money rolling. When I keep waiting into week 11 or so, the stems are definitely leaning more which means the buds are still growing. At 8 weeks, there was no weight to bend them yet.
Thoughts and wisdom from you guys? What's the avg you wait to harvest and why? Are there ways to speed up the flower maturity process?
